I suck at cracking eggs

always picking out shell bits

I found the organic eggs have tougher shells, making them easier to crack.  Egg whites are probably the most disgusting thing I have tasted, I would love to enjoy eggs because they seem so healthy, cheap and easy to make but it's never going to happen.

This is going to sound weird.

I just wrote an essay to a complete stranger who made a post in a local Facebook group* giving away a free guitar. This was the post.

"I am tired of the negativity in our society.... so I am starting a contest. I love music and I think the gift of music is the best thing that someone can do in this world. I am giving away my Gibson J-35 to someone that truly deserves it. You must prove to me why you deserve it and how you will use it to make the world a better place. Send me a video or essay of why you want my guitar. This is for real people! Spread this on to your friends and family! Local people are the best scenario but you never know. The contest is open for one week starting 19/August/2018"

* Naturally, I creeped the profile and the other day I actually bumped in to and had a conversation with this guy while I was having shatter made at the pot store, so I know he's a real dude, I just don't know if i'll wake up in an ice bath with one kidney.

Randomness level is high in this story.

Ha, I should just send a pic of my fingers after I play on my cheap ass acoustic for an hour.  I really need an upgrade.

I don't know much about guitars but googled the model # and it looks like whenever the Gibson J-35 was new, it cost $2000!

I'm sure somebody will have a better essay than me, I have just always wanted to learn to play guitar!

Yup, I'm in Courtenay.

There are a few others from the area, Pretty sure Stealth is living in Nanaimo, and of course a large Victoria contingent!

Love it here but we aren't exactly sure where we will end up after my schooling. I'm taking Criminology and hoping to work as either CO, Sheriff, Probation Officer, etc. Also, will be trying to become a firefighter. Not much of a chance gaining employment on the island for any of those other than CO, then it's Victoria where I can't afford to live. We might have to move off island so we can both have good careers, which kind of sucks.

If by CO you mean Conservation Officer and not Corrections Officer, there should be jobs for the former soon. Hopefully in the next budget..

We currently have 2 CO's for the entire Island. Used to have a lot more but 16yrs of (Neo)liberal rule gutted all enforcement and I see some absolute bull$&!# on the rivers out here during Salmon season. Poachers all over the place.

Good luck getting cell reception to rat them out while they're still there either. By the time you pack your $&!#, leave and get back in range it's *usually an hour later (except on the Campbell), sometimes more.

Nah, I meant corrections.

I had to do something with my career that has transferable skills from my previous employment.

I'm really hoping to make some good connections when i'm in school and HOPE I can find something local once i'm finished.

I feel like I only get to be there for people when they are down. I love helping people when they feel they have nowhere to go to or need comforting, but I also want to be there when they are just having fun. This happened with my ex, one of my best friends, and just others in general. This never really occurred to me until today.

I also haven't felt like myself in a long time (since October) and I am kind of scared that I'll never be able to be like that again...

Mannnn...I'm starting school 4 September, I am starting firefighting training 11 September and NOW i'm being asked to re-join the Junior B team I helped coach last year. It was a rough go, we came in to a very bad situation with players that were brought in under the old regime. This season is different, the team is in a full rebuild and I am actually helping with the evaluations this weekend. My buddy is the new head coach, he AC'd with me last year, and really wants me to come back and help with the defense. I have so much on my plate this fall and when I did it last season, it is a very big commitment. I haven't ever done any post-secondary so I know I will have lots of reading/homework, but I also don't want to let my buddy down AND I really enjoy coaching and feel I am good at it with what I bring to the table as a coach.

I keep asking people to talk me out of it, and I feel like if I work hard enough I could do all 3 and not want to suck start a shot gun, I just don't know!

BTW - RE: earlier random post about Guitar. Turns out I 'won' it. I will be the new owner of a Gibson J-35 guitar. The guy who did the giveaway actually turned out to be pretty chill and we have been emailing back and forth old Army stories. Pretty cool!

I confess ~

I have a little First World concern of mine.  I enjoy flying First Class, that I get panicky if I have to fly Coach. Like now. I enjoy going through the Priority line, boarding first, free checked bags, and free champagne.  I enjoy that.  And just now, when looking at the airline site to book for a day trip for my Mother and I, I couldn't get the flight schedule to our liking, and had to exit the site before making a choice.  I know I can search better!  I am going to go drink some Kombucha, and then search better!

And now, after a few hours of here and there, looking around, I have found my day trip.  First Class on the way over there, and Coach on the way back.  So that is sort of a balance.

Don't think I'll ever fly but I always wanted to take a train trip, maybe down to Portland, one day.  Don't think trains have classes but a nice reclining seat where I can watch the view and maybe doze off sounds relaxing.
