TSN - Canucks will finish 9th, Leafs and Flames tandem as good as Canucks

Another TSN segment during American Thanksgiving showed the record that each teams will need for the remainder of the season to make the playoffs (based on last year's point cutoff), and VAN needed only .500 hockey the rest of the way to place 8th (CGY needed a little more than .500 but still attainable). Barring a collapse even bigger than last year's, we should be in. Calgary has really been impressive so far. That stark difference between the Albertan teams... I feel so bad for EDM.

talk to some Oiler fans and you won't feel so bad anymore

S'all good -- we're back to having 5 of 7 Canadian teams in playoff contention versus but 1 of 7 last year, which included the bottom 3 in the Pacific and bottom 1 in the Central. Looking forward to the next Van-Calgary matchup -- Dec 20th.

In a deep draft year. Coincidence of course. If a Canadian team finishes dead last, I predict that an American team will "win" the draft lottory!! Probably New Jersey, Colorado, or Dallas.

Over the next 2 years.

Ways Anaheim wins the trade.

#1 Bonino scores less than 40 points and Sbisa never reaches his potential

#2 They win the cup within the next two years.

#3 Kesler reaches 40 goals again.

#4 McCann pans out into nothing and Ritchie becomes a star.

Ways Vancouver wins the trade

#1 Bonino scores 50+ points again.

#2 Sbisa turns into a top 4 D-Man

#3 Kesler doesn't get 50 points at least

#4 Anaheim can't resign Kesler after failing to get a cup with him on the roster.

#5 Canucks win the cup :bigblush:

Ways the teams tie.

#1 Anaheim wins a cup, Bonino gets 50+points, Canucks make at least 2nd round play-offs.

#2 Kesler gets 40 goals, Bonino gets 50+points, Canucks make 2nd round of play-offs.

This includes only three choices: Anaheim wins, Canucks win or they tie. That treats a trade as a competition between the two teams.

Trades are not competitions, though. They are attempts for each team to change assets they think they can afford for other assets they think will make them better. It is very possible for both teams to gain from a trade.

No! If you can't add substance then you should be the one to begone!!! This thread is pertinent considering who we are playing and our positions in the standings.

What new and original thought did you contribute? Pretty sure its been parroted several times already

Isn't the Leaf's tandem Bernier and Reimer??? Scrivens is for the Oilers....

TBH I'd rather have Bernier/Reimer over Miller/Lack

Bernier and Miller numbers very similar

Bernier 26 wins, 19 losses, GAA 2.38, Save% .923

Miller 25 wins , 30 losses , GAA 2.47, Save% .918

Hiller 29 wins, 13 losses, GAA 2.48, Save% .911

Reimer 12 wins, 16 losses, GAA: 3.29, Save%.911

Lack 16 wins, 17 losses, GAA: 2.41, Save% .912

Ramo 17 wins, 15 losses GAA 2.65, Save% .911

If you look at their last regular season stats its nearly Identical.. Yes several of them were either on a bad or good team, but regardless of that confounding variable, these goalies post similar numbers.

Im not surprised that TSN doesn't see much because they do look mostly upon statistical analysis to base their facts and assumptions. Excluding all of the other accomplishments the goalies have done, they really do match up around the same.

looking at the stats...I think I'd prefer Bernier/Reimer over Miller/Lack too...

To be fair, Bernier absolutely stoned the Canucks and we lost the goalie duel in the Toronto game, but over the course of the season he's been pretty bad and Miller has been the better starter. As for Lack, we know he can play better than he's showing so far but Reimer is a pretty solid backup in his own right. We need to stop over-rating our own goalies because they've been average to say the least this season, but they're playing behind a very shoddy defence group (for example, Sbisa was a 7th man in Anaheim, now a 4th defence man in Vancouver). Our goalies are better, but not by much.

Yeah its one year where drafting top 10 would defanetly dull the sting of missing the playoffs. Id still rather see 4 or 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs however.

As opposed to your new and original thoughts. Begone foul mini-mod!!!

I like to bring back prediction threads. How do you think TO is liking their chances now?? TSN=idiots with a few exceptions.

To their credit, the Leafs tenders have faced 1221 shots this year.

Ouch. That's Leafs hockey. Only Buffalo has surrendered more.

Without Bernier and Reimer carrying that team, the results are predictable.

If their tenders play only slightly better than average hockey, the Leafs are a joke.

Bernier is 21st in the NHL at .914 - not bad behind that group, but not good enough to make that team respectable.
