After 2 games some questions

After 2 games for me there are questions. Although managing 2 wins and better Sedin play with Vrbata, I wonder if they are not starting another goal tending controversy. The idea again that Miller is the main goalie and Lack as backup when lack is clearly as good as Miller, is just like the Luongo, Schnieder debacle.

Are they going to over coach this group again; might have been evidenced by the 1st period last night ?

Is Kassian stifled by linemates, or a coach, or coaches? It is really too early to tell, but Kessler is playing well for the Ducks.

Lack is not clearly as good as Miller. What are you basing that on, his 3 pre-season games?

Eddie Lack got destroyed at the end of last season. His save percentage was brutal. He is too young and he will get owned in the playoffs.

Ryan Miller is a ****ing savior. Stop spreading trash rumours about a goaltender controversy. You do not want Eddie Lack in net in the playoffs against Anaheim or Chicago.

Miller is a better goalie than Lack. Regardless, the reason the Lu/Schnieds tandem became a 'debacle' was due to the bush NHLeague that changed Lu's contract. He became impossible to trade.

The Canucks often come out sluggish in the 1st, so no...no evidence of over coaching there.

Kass has started slow (just like last year) and has not played well enough for the top lines. Chances are, he will improve as the season wears on.

What has Kesler got to do with anything?

As Linden has said numerous times..."we now have players that want to be here."

2 games 2 wins for Miller...Goalie controversy? really?

The Oil were playing very good for most of the game last night and Miller made a Clutch save in the SO to save the game for us...I think things are looking good in vanCity's net...

the forums, not so good, too many chicken little doomsday fans

Why, on Earth, would you search for negatives? Honestly, it's like going to a birthday party full of happy people with a beautiful cake on the table and complaining that the table legs were wobbly. So many good things happening, I refuse to drum up something bad.

I'm quite happy to leave the word controversy in the past. No, it won't be a problem...Eddie got thrust into the situation last year and perhaps wasn't quite ready for it. Did super to get crammed in like that and held his own, but it's a huge pressure deal. This allows to take the heat off so he can continue to develop into a quality goaltender. This isn't a game of hurt feelings and "they picked him over me" highschool deal. These guys are pros and understand that there are more than one guy to fill some positions...especially goaltender. It's actually a positive if you keep the drama out of it.

They weren't "overcoached" last night (in the first)....Edmonton came out charging because, well, they have to at this point. So they played very well and the Canucks were a little slower out of the gate, that's all. They were a little disjointed, but pulled it together. Again - why look to bash the coaching so earlier on? It's been great, we're winning. We came back from deficits all night to take the 2 points. The coach obviously helped them keep their cool and level headed in order TO overcome a deficit and take the game. It's all about perspective.

Kass is reckless, but I loved his play last night. Was one handed driving the net and, although a little rough and sloppy around the edges at times, he is contributing. I believe this coach likely understands the feedback from the team in how they were overcoached last year. That they were yelled at rather than communicated with. Allow them to feel good about playing first, then fine tune. It's a process (lol). Have to have them tune back in first. And they seem to be back to loving playing...that's huge and nothing can coach that into players, it comes from within. This coach seems to get that, and how to connect with them.

I felt great about seeing an entertaining game last night...and we won. So no, not buying in.

And pssst, it's Kesler.

Anaheim: 3-4

Vancouver: 5-2

Kind of pointless at this point, but what's your point about Kesler?

Him playing 19 straight games may have contributed to him being "destroyed"

In your opinion, Lack is not as good as Miller. I also believe Kassian has played quite well too. You see things in a different light but that surely does not mean there is a problem. The Nucks came out a little flat in the first period but as the game went on you could tell they began to dominate due to experience.

Some may say, Ya but it is only Edmonton. Well, I don't think Edmonton played that bad. I enjoyed the game probably because the Nucks came back to win. I liked the no give up effort. I thought the Sedins and Vrabata played well. Our second line played well as did the bottom six. Miller let in a softy but that happens in hockey and to be critical of him is unfair.

I believe they need to be given a few games to shake off some summer rust and build some chemistry before we start to be too prematurely concerned. It appears Willie has them under control IMHO anyway.

Jeeeeezzzz...let the man (snucks) have his say.

All I can say is, after two games...so far so good, as far as results go. I'd welcome a goalie controversy...it would mean that both Miller and Lack are playing well enough to challenge each other for starts. What's wrong with that? It'll only become a problem if the whole situation is mismanaged, as it was by the past regime.

Over-coaching? Not based on what the players are saying (Hamhuis: "we play with structure, but are allowed to let instincts take over so that we're not overthinking the play").

Kesler? Who cares. I watched parts of the Anaheim/Detroit game and he made no difference.

2 games for the Canucks so far. There's going to be lots of ups and downs...2 wins = ups. As cliche as this sounds, it's a marathon, not a sprint. The starter gun just went off.

EDIT: Forgot my 2 cents on Kassian...the kid was on the shelf for pre-season. Give him some time to catch up. I wish the coaching staff would unleash him and let him be a scary 200 PIM guy who can score 20 goals. He's already in the Oilers' head (Eakins: "...disturbing player" when describing Kassian last season). Would love it if all other coaches in the WC thought the same way about him.

Miller has been just okay so far. Made some big saves late, which is good.

Kassian's enthusiasm is high and will start paying off.

Edler needs to still find his full confidence. Torts did such a number on him, hopefully it doesn't take half a season to unravel.

What is up with the looooong stretch with no games?? We have to wait until Friday?? Thank goodness we got 2 wins or this place would be going ape until then.
