rwisaak
Markstrom wasn't even picked up on waivers, despite Winnipeg trading for a backup, after he was waived. Safe to say he has no value. To be fair, I think it's more complicated than that. A team that picked him up on waivers would have only done so with the intent to keep him on their active roster as a backup - and that's not a great option for any team. It's not like another could just grab him and send him down to their own AHL affiliate...he'd just get picked up by the Canucks again who could then send him down without waivers this time. Waste of time for all involved. I do think though that there are at least a few teams who would find some value in having him develop in their system just as the Canucks are doing right now. No value as a current NHL player, I agree, but still worth a little something as a prospect I think. That is, unless I'm understanding this wrong, but since Markstrom is currently in the AHL he could theoretically be traded to another team and put straight into that team's AHL lineup without going through the waiver process, right? Luongowned
Hopefully we can trade them if they aren't performing in the future keep them. Ohhhh ok that makes sense... So essentially we can hopefully trade them if they aren't performing in the future while keeping them instantaneously... Jim Benning really has his work cut out for him.. Maybe he should be advised as to how he can manage to do all this at the same time by Marty Mcfly and the Doc!
Zuongo
Sure, package the two of them for Sidney Crosby. If we can't get that right now... then nah.

VegasCanuck
In the future, Markstrom and Sbisa will be turned into indestructible cyborgs, ala Terminator style, so we shouldn't trade them because that will happen in past creating an alternative timeline, negating the possibility of playing poorly! At least, that's what I think!

Canucks Curse
Isn't it amazing how a simple fact blinds people to reality? Next will be "Markstrom and Sbisa to the Islanders for Tavares, is it possible?" thread. 100% agree- hey check this out, no one wants Markstrom now, will that change if he plays poorly? If Sbisa plays poorly, will teams covet him even more than already do now? Gosh, I just don't know
tyhee
When I saw the first post on this thread I was going to say I didn't know Canucks had a player named Markstrom, Sbisa-but many others have made that point better than I was going to. In a little bit of seriousness: 1. The Canucks have three goalies who in my view would be capable AHL starters to better and all of whom are prospects for future development. One of those goalies-Ericsson-has the right to opt out and return to Sweden, if I understand correctly. That seems like too many goalie prospects to me. If the Canucks can get something worthwhile, I'm sure they'd trade one of them. Right now, they probably wouldn't get a worthwhile return so an early trade seems unlikely. 2. I believe the Canucks got Sbisa largely as a project to see if they could unlock the potential that was seen in him-so they'll likely take every opportunity to do that. So far he does some things well and could use improvement in other areas. I don't think the Canucks will be looking to trade him any time soon. Of course, if a good enough offer is made, of course Sbisa will be traded.

NucksFanInOz
I'm trying to understand what you mean by "Keep him in the future"? Are we talking some Marty McFly nonsense or do you mean work on them and keep them as a future investment? Besides we brought in Sbisa for added depth on the blue line which, he's mean and has some potential. Markstrom can hone his game a bit in the ahl… again. But that being said, no one wants to trade anything of use for players who are playing terribly or not even a regular starter on the roster in Markstroms case. Time Lord
"Markstrom, Sbisa" means his name is Sbisa Markstrom. But CF14 called him "they" at one point, so maybe he's a split personality/Gollum kind of guy?
