2015 NHL Draft Player-on-the-Rise: Nikita Korostelev

Recommended Posts

We all know you'd rather take Sprong than McDavid, so yeah.

Bruh, calm down. I want Sprong based on where we're predicted to finish this season. I'd take many players before I'd take Sprong, like Barzal, Konecny, McDavid, Eichel, Kylington, Hanifin, Strome, Zacha etc... just not Korostelev and that's just my opinion for now.

Perhaps he gets really good later this year and I'll be convinced on drafting him over Sprong, but just not at the moment.

I just feel like we'd finish in a position where we'd have a shot at both Sprong and Korostelev, and if that's so, I'd take Sprong and that's it. Nothing personal against Korostelev and all the other great players in this draft.

Personally, I wanted Ehlers or Nylander over Virtanen, but we didn't pick those players and that's fine. I'll be rooting for whichever prospect we happen to pick up at the draft and just hope that he will become the player that can guide the Canucks to the Stanley Cup one day. That mindset is not going to change for this upcoming draft nor will it for all the upcoming drafts to come.

It was just a joke since I've seen you mention his name a bunch of times, but I'm glad to see you feel strongly about the kid. I don't know a ton about him -- the QMJHL is last in my priority of CHL teams when studying up on prospects (studying for fun, of course).

For me personally, I'd be happiest if we were in a position to pick a centreman (then defenseman next). If there aren't any around and the best players available are Sprong and Korostelev I'd probably go with Sprong as well.

Hahaha, yeah sorry. I'm pretty hyped up about Sprong. Offensively, he's quite the complete package. Like most most young prospects, he can improve his defensive game a bit.

Yeah, same here! I'm more of an OHL/WHL guy than I am a QMJHL guy but I heard about him in one of the draft rankings and decided to do some scouting myself and was pleasantly surprised!

That's totally understandable, I myself would pick a lot of other players before Sprong. Esp. great centremen like Barzal, Marner (plays mostly wing now I believe), and on defense I'm pretty high on Kylington, and Roy.

Excited for the 2015 draft!
