Dogbyte
Well it's going to take more time kid like a year or two to fix the mess MG left. They made good strides but MG still left them to broke to afford 2 top 6 wingers so it's wait until we rid ourselves of some third liners for a second liner or wait for development from within. It takes time they made 6 fixes already in 3 days. It will likely take several more.
johnnyrocks
Man chill out about the second line. I thought that they created a few chances, it's just that other than Bonino, they don't have any real good finishers. Be patient
CanuckFanForever1123
I would look into something like this for next game: Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata Kassian-Bonino-Vey Higgins-Richardson-Hansen Burrows-Matthias-Dorsett I know Burrows makes a lot to play on 4th line, but look at it from this standpoint: Line 1: Needs no explanation. Line 2: Kassian and Vey have untapped offensive potential. With Vey's playmaking ability, I think he would fit well with these two to try to jumpstart his offense. Line 3: Hansen and Higgins have good chemistry, and Richardson has been really good so far this year. Gives us a defensive 3rd line, with potential to put points on the board. Line 4: Again, ignore Burrows contract. He is a physical player with offensive capability. Matthias is a decent enough playmaker to where working with Burrows might give us a little offensive potential on the 4th line, while giving us grit and size. Thoughts? Oliewud
I don't know if it has been stated, but this is how I would look to make my lines. D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Vrbata Higgins - Bonino - Kassain Tanev - Mathias - Burrows tanev is one hellavu checker
tas
I think you're being a little too emo to be objective. that's not my style. i'm not saying they don't have those things i listed, i'm saying they don't have enough of them to be cup contenders/high end regular season team. they might be able to make the playoffs as is and that's fine. winning is cyclical, and the key is to minimize the duration and depth of the low points. khay
Why in the world would you do that?... What needs to happen is Kassian to the 2nd line. Dank - Henrik - Vrbata Higgins/Vey - Bonino - Kassian Vey/Higgins - Horvat - Burrows Matthias - Richardson - Hansen Dorsett ...plus our defense needs clean up in our own end and we're good until JB adds another defender to solidify things up more. I like Vey-Bonino-Kassian. If these guys are here to stay, then might as well give them some meaningful playing time to grow and build chemistry together. I really think Burrows has lost his role on this team. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Hansen is a better player than Burrows now. Bottom 2 doesn't need Burrows: Higgins-Horvat-Hansen Matthias-Richardson-Dorsett I never realized how bad Burrows has gotten man it's so sad to think that only 3 years ago, he scored that OT goal in game 7. Pickly
Please explain...if they don't have any finishers on the 2nd line, what will being patient accomplish? Because in today's NHL, you have to develop your players from within your system in order to be successful. It takes time, proper development, and a little bit of luck. UFCanuck
It'll take a couple more years. We have to wait for our 2011-2013 prospects to develop and then a couple more years until Virtanen and Mccann are ready to step in.

shazzam
Fix it how? We will have a second line when our prospects are ready to step in and take the role
Mathew Barzal
Is question can basically be reciprocated as 'How long until our prospects make the show?' Because that's where we should be getting our talent at this point.
luckylager
How long? As long as it takes, but Benning doesn't seem shy or stupid. Getting a legit top six winger will cost a lot, now, or at the deadline. I'm just going to enjoy watching the Canucks this year, win or lose. I hope Shink gets stronger in the A and earns some time with the nucks, he could stick.
Nino
Gotta hope one of the rookies (Jensen or Shinkaruk) get rolling in the A and join the team at some point. ^^^
Bo.Horvat53
Don't know why so many people downgrade Higgins so much. He can be a good second line winger IMO, and has worked nicely with Nick Bonino. I do agree with Burrows though, he just isn't that 30 goal scorer anymore, especially without Henrik and Daniel. I would suggest putting a more skilled guy on the 2nd line RW spot, Burrows to the third to play more of a checking role. Dekey Pete
The second line is painful to watch right now.
Hockey Stache
Bo.Horvat53 This is exactly how I think the lines should be. I do think one of the teams major issues is not having a proper puck moving defenseman. I know that Cody Franson has issues in his own end but aren't the Canucks dmen having all sorts of issues right now. Imagine Franson's offensive abilities on the ice at the same time as the Sedins and actually having a pointman with offensive capabilities on the powerplay. Not sure it would take much to get Franson out of Toronto either. Just one player as a suggestion. I'm sure there are others out there. Just using Franson as an example. Guest
Burrows and Kassian need to be switched on the lines they play on. Burrows has been lost out there for a long time and is getting really frustrating to watch.
Me_
Burrows and Higgins are not 2nd line players. Im sorry this line does not carry any real skill other then Bonino. Either call up jensen and give him a shot since he has more skill. Or give kassian and vey a chance. The 2nd line needs to be better rite now we are a 1 line team I fully agree with you. Burrows, Higgins, Hansen are all depth players better served on the third line. I like Vey's energy. I would like to think that the 2nd line is wide open for anyone to take.
