It's the right call and number of games if the nhl was consistent.

As it is not I don't blame anyone for complaining about it. We know damn well that the NHL is incredibly sloppy concerning suspensions and even if they got this one right it's meaningless as they continue to get too many wrong. All or none. Justice should be an ironclad rule, not an opinion.

There's no way it didn't deserve something as some have bleated. I thought 2, though. 3 is close enough (if were 5 then I think there would be legitimate complaining to do).

As an aside, as much as people complain about the NHL and Bettman, the NHLPA likely has as much or more to do with imporper discipline as the league itself (the restrictions on levels, fines, wiping a repeat offender's slate clean after a few years all (as far as i know) come from the NHLPA. They need to step up to help the game too.

Totally agree ..

What a joke. Thought I'd repost poeticas post. Guess he's getting 3 games for being a Canuck.

I feel foe burr ever since that whole stephan ojay or what ever that refs name was he's had a bullseye on him from the league. this from nino is a perfect example how is that not a suspension but the hit on emilin is?? Oh well on the brightside let's get gaunce or grenier up here or maybe put vey on the 2nd and call up horvat?

First reaction: WTF we get a good start to the season and the league wants to screw us over

After thinking for 10 seconds: Young guy gets called up

Hopefully Jensen or shinkaruk, gaunce would be ok if it was a third/fourth line suspension

IF they recall a young guy, chances are it will be Horvat.

How the hell can they justify 3 games, when other get off with murder... Smells like payback for Burrows. NHL is a joke

Well he has to be smarter.

Honestly I didn't think the hit was too bad but it was unnecessary. Either Burr has the reflexes of an old man or he was being a bit foolish.

At the time I didn't see why he bothered and now that he has been over penalised by 2 games imo I wish he hadn't.

When are we going to learn. Sharks playoff games all over again. Play smart ffs.

There's incessant debate with every suspension regarding the length/amount of games to serve.

I'd rather have a random determination.

First establish the grade of the infraction, with 3 ~5 degrees of severity. Obviously the first grade(a 20 gamer, half-season, whatever is deserved), would be determined after much deliberation/consideration.

So you scale it downwards, with the last suspendable category, being 1~3, or 2~4 games..whatever. Then roll a die, or spin a wheel, whatever it is, to determine the range.

At least we'd all have to just hush up & simply ACCEPT the verdict!(of course, we might suspect loaded dice! :^)

If they could have got Burrows before now they would have. But he's played clean enough that he has no record under the rules of the league...even though the NHL somehow brought his record of fines into play...

I suspect if you polled most fans, rightly or wrongly, they would call him a cheap and maybe even dirty player. Like many of his ilk, that's part of his game, I do agree that a few years ago, many teams (and fans) would be happy to have him on their team (that's usually how it works with that type of player - love him on your team; hate him on anyone else's). Not so much after last year - hopfully he has a much better year this year.

One of the things that I always find a bit laughable in these situations is when people say the player couldn't help but run into the goalie, avoid hitting a forward, or whatever as they only had a couple of seconds to react. Any yet, when near the goal and with a scoring opportunity, they make six moves in those same two seconds. These guys are professional athletes with pretty amazing reaction times.

Should have been 2 games. To be honest, this looks like like a difficult decision. Emelin loves to dive, so obviously we would all think he dived and faked all of this. But even then, it was a late hit and the contact was on his head.

The league was right to suspend. But the 3 games is a bit to much since he isnt a repeating offender. Looks at John Moore. He's 23 years old, he's a repeat offender, and his recent suspension was a hit to the head of Erik Haula. To me, that should have been 3-4 games because one, hes a repeating offender and obviously he didn't learn his lesson, and second, that was very dangerous and Haula was injured and left the game (partially I think). Burrows on the other hand, gets his first suspension, and his hit was late and all, but it wasn't a huge hit.

Wrong decision by the league to suspend him 3 games..

Not for games in the So-Cal swing, just no.

Grenier is not defensively reliable enough, yet. By the time one is a 'Nucks regular or an NHLer ....these things need to be instinctual. They're not that for Grenier, just yet.
