I thought the hit was late but head contact was mainly due to Moore's positioning. Not really sure how to feel about 3 games. I'm glad the league is making player safety an issue though.

I'm pretty sure we can stay competitive with Edmonton, Nashville and Colorado without Burrows, but glad he's back for the Cali games. I hope we call up Jensen since he's had the most NHL experience.

Just move Kassian up and put Sestito in.

BS

The video not your statement ;)

I think what's more BS, is according to this, it's a late hit and interference and a hit to the head, but not one offical had called a penalty on the play. 2 referees and both didn't call a penalty, but according to the league there were multiple penalties on the play.

Why are the officials of the NHL, that are trained by the NHL not making the calls then? Either the refs aren't trained properly, or there is a big miss communicating going in the NHL with referees on what calls to make.

And from what I see in the video and the gif posted above there was a referee looking right at the play. Sure i cant see his eyes but you'd think peripheral vision would've picked something up there

Garbage. Pure garbage. He was suspended for 3 games because his name is Alex Burrows. The league has let far too many players get away with far more egregious hits - oh, but they were not Canucks. That is all that continues to matter - the logo on the player's chest. The fact that the referees and the league hate Burr is just an added bonus here.

And when will a player ever be suspended for a marginal hit such as this on a Canuck??

Does anyone have a realtime angle which shows exactly how much time elapsed from Emelin playing the puck to contact? Because the only tv angle doesn't show it and by guessing it seems to be around .6-.9 seconds difference. There's going to be a lot of suplementary discipline if hits 1 second after the puck leaves a stick are 3 gamers.

^ This!

The hit was late, I am not denying that, but it is not as late as people are making it out to be or any later then a lot of hits every night. Stop watching the slow motion clips and watch something in real-time.

You are poking holes in the conspiracy theory that the refs are out to screw the Canucks and are after Burrows. Stop doing that!

I watched it live and immediatley said it was going to be a suspension. Very late and had nothing to do with the play at all.

From the video I posted from the NHL disciplinary, the camera angle from the Habs end shows the ref in our zone and he sees what happened. And then from the other Camera angle when the puck gets turned over, and the Canucks are now heading into the Habs zone, the other referee in the Habs zone is still watching it.

I said the same exact thing, but because of the head contact. I just don't understand how they are now suspending people for the lateness of the hit, when this crap happens all the time. As long as the league is consistent, which it won't be i'm sure, then I am content.

lol Burrows misses 4 DAYS for an illegal hit and this is supposed to be proof of a giant NHL conspiracy against us :picard: . If it were 4-5 games I would say its too much but the league got this right IMO.

if the same hit got 3 games for every first time suspension I would agree with you

Is it the same for all?

kinda off topic but not really...does any of you think there will be a day where all 4 officials on the ice can call penalties and On/offside.... like football has a ref for every receiver... hockey wouldnt be adding an extra ref or anything just all 4 guys can make calls....

im wondering this because you see in the replay the linesman that had a front row seat wouldve for sure called that penalty and you can see that ref actually had a montreal player between him and the hit and didnt see it ( for those of you wondering it why it wasnt called, they didnt see it so it didnt get called.. now go wonder about something else.)

Rather than getting caught up too much in the conspiracy theories (which are so, so tempting!), maybe we, along with fans of other teams, should come up with a list of real suggestions for the NHL on how they can better communicate their disciplinary rules and practices to fans and send it to them.

My suggestions would be that they add a tenth of a second clock to real time videos of hits to determine whether or not they are late. I would also add that the NHL needs to tell us how late is "late" AND at what point "late" becomes suspendable entirely on its own (like the Rome hit).

What a joke, Kredier gets nothing, Gryba gets a away with a headshot. This is an absolute joke.

Exactly. Kreider basically stiff-arms an unsuspecting Brodin from behind while he's 5 feet out from the end boards and he goes face first into the boards and gets nothing. Gryba's is close to Alex's too, but you can actually see Eric raise his elbow to catch Artem. In fact he hit him so hard his helmet flew off, while Emelin's hit may have gotten punished because the big Russian (instinctively or not) threw out his arms as he went back to catch himself. That may have resulted in a suspension, but no way the league doesn't throw the book at the other two. Ridiculous.

Oh well, hope Kassian gets his chance. Hope he can start proving himself too if he gets the increased role.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN Y'ALL!
