Eminem - Detroit vs Everybody (Royce Da 5'9, Big Sean, Danny Brown)

If you haven't heard it, GO LISTEN TO IT NOW. They lyricism in this is so dope.

Dej Loaf sings the chorus. Sounds like a 13 year old pre pubescent boy. Its easily the worst part of this song and its just bad in general. But the rest of the song makes up for it.

Royce is Royce. He's always top class and brings it every time.

Big Sean surprised me. I'm not a big fan of his. I think he's a mediocre rapper but his verse in this was pretty good. Some very clever wordplay. I was digging it.

Danny Brown was good. Its kinda hard to understand him sometimes but overall he brought it. Laid some awesome bars and was classic Danny Brown.

And then there's Em. He absolutely killed it. Expect nothing less from the Rap God. This and the new Cypher just prove that he's still on the top of his game.

It says Trick Trick was on this song but he just does an outro. No rapping. That was quite disappointing but its alright.

Overall I like the song. The chorus is garbage and Trick Trick not having a verse was disappointing but the rapping is top notch and the beat is sick.

Anyone else have anything they would like to say?

listened to cypher earlier, thought the first guy was the best. even thought Budden had a strong verse. eminem was strong too, but if that were an album track you know it would have cheesy production and a lot of terrible hooks from rhianna throughout

why do CDC'ers love eminem so much? i really don't get it

Not just CDCer's but a crapload of people. Eminem is the king of rap in this era. Arguably one of the best. And probably the only rapper so far to go down as someone who doesn't just rap about money, girls, sex, drugs, alcohol, partying, or any of those other generic rap songs.

Ya Crooked I was awesome on the cypher.

And im pretty sure its people in general that love Eminem. Theres a reason why hes one of the most successful musicians ever. If you dont like him thats fine, I get that, but you're wrong and i hate you.

well, then let me rephrase: why do people seem to love eminem, but no other rappers?

i think he's a phenomenal talent, i just don't get why his Stans (lol) keep saying EM'S BACK, EM'S BACK over and over again, as he releases really weak albums

he's got great talent, but doesn't really utilize it well anymore. that isn't just my opinion, i'm pretty sure most people agree--including his fans, which is why they keep saying 'he's back'

Ya Eminem isnt the same as he was before but on every album he releases a few gems but nothing like MMLP or The Eminem Show calibre. On MMLP2 Bad Guy, Rap God, Evil Twin and Wicked Ways were dope songs, the rest of the album was just average imo. And Eminem fans love rap we just think Em is the best ever (i think hes more than proved that). But to each their own. And idk why people keep saying hes back. I guess they accept hes not as good as he was before but whenever he releases a great song they think the rest of the album will have that high quality. Like when Rap God came out everyone thought he was going to maintain that brilliance through the whole album but then we got crap like The Monster, Stronger than I was and Desperation. And now with Shady XV, we already got The Monster equivalent with Guts over fear. Detroit vs Everybody is a step in the right direction but im nit expecting him to maintain that for the rest of his songs on the album.

And Eminem does rap about sex, drugs, women and money just in a different way than most.

Honestly, Eminem is the only rapper I listen to. Before I get called a Stan, you have to admit "rap" is crap (rhyme intended) now a days. Guys like Shmoney Dance (IDEK what his name is), or stupid songs like "chillin in the club on a Chuesday" are actually being called skilled and it just blows my mind. They have no lyricism, meaning or skill. Also a lot of people including me listen to Eminem cause his older songs have a way of pumping you up and making you feel you better if your having a shitty day

no, rap is not crap

Umm just no ! Rap is terrible nowadays

The people at the forefront of the genre have always been terrible for the most part. Today is no different than 15 years ago in that respect.

Eminem is far from the best thing out there. Based solely on music, not skill, he hasn't even been in the discussion for about 15+ years. But that is of course just my opinion.

This isn't a commentary on rap music, I'm just as guilty as others for listening to music with a negative message, I literally owned NWA Straight Outta Compton in 1988 at the tender young age of 12. I'm just sayin' take off the blinders if you think Eminem is some golden child of rap.

My point is, Eminem has the same generic message as any gangsta rap, for example in the cypher he recently released.

"Play nice, bitch I'll punch Lana Del Rey in the face twice like Ray Rice in broad daylight in plain sight of elevator surveillance 'til the head is bangin' on the railin' ... then celebrate with the Ravens."

I still listen to rap, just not 99.9% of it. If it has a RnB hook sung by someone who can't sing in key, I want no part of it. If you like rap, listen to this...
