(Proposal) Blue Jackets And Canucks

Columbus is struggling so far this year. I'm wondering if now is a good time to scoop some young talent from them for some depth.

To van : Boone Jenner

To Columbus : Mattias and Hansen

Columbus has stupid left wing depth. And terrible Center / right wing depth. There's a decent chance they would look at our offering and jump all over it.

Burrows Bonino Kassian

Jenner Horvat vey

Higgins Richardson Sestito

Just want to know how people are seriously considering this to be a bad deal for a team relying on Foligno as their top 6 point getter at the moment.

They just had a solid season and are following it up yet again with an absolute stinker. They've a derth of prospects clammering to enter the league yet need to compete as is to keep fan interest up when the Buckeyes and college NCAA hockey has a larger following than an NHL team

While I am unsure of Matthias and Hansen get the deal done, the value is not far off and it isn't like Jenner is displaying anything more than bottom 6 center at the moment or potential top 9 winger.

Frustrates me to no end that people really think everyone else on any other team is worthy of a roster player and a pick and a prospect....

Just so I am clear. Boone Jenner, 2nd round pick with a total of 33 points in 76 games and some issues with injuries already is going to cost a top prospect and or a roster player + and possibly + again?

This is what people are really thinking?

Which one of Hansen or Matthias is a top prospect?

Edit* auto correct was not my friend this time.

CBJ laughs at this though, two bottom six players doesn't equal a young top six player with potential. CBJ is dealing with injuries right now - and Boone Jenner is no exception after being out for much of the start of the season. If he'd been healthy he'd be one of their top point getters as well (he does have 4 points in 4 games after all), and is versatile being able to play wing or center.

If CBJ is convinced to move him, they'll be getting someone with that top 6 potential back.

Not arguing that and I qualify that by stating that I don't know if that's the deal that gets it done, but offering a pick, prospect AND roster player is just...

Come on Elvis, you know what I am trying to say.

It seemed like you were responding to the op when I first read that.

no no, have had a love hate relationship with proposals since we bottomed out last year.

People seem intent on selling 3 or more pieces to pick up unproven players or prospects and saying it's worth it based in "potential"

The irony is they're always sending over our prospects without even considering or need for depth or those prospects potential while doing

I think Columbus says no way to Matthias and Hansen. They likely don't want to trade him so it would take a huge overpayment right now anyways. I think if they did trade him though that a fair offer from Vancouver would be a roster player in the bottom 6 or third pair d plus a decent prospect like Gaunce or Corrado.

Jenner is about .5ppg pace when you include his games last year, playoffs and this year. So already he has more value than most prospects that may or may not ever crack the roster, but not good enough to gamble a really big prospect on like Horvat or Virtanen.

Maybe you offer up Gaunce plus a conditional second round pick depending on Gaunce playing 40 games or something by the end of his elc or a player like Hansen or Webber.

CBJ are hurting with injuries right now. I believe Horton , there only top six right winger, is out indefinitely. They have a lot of good pieces but lack depth. Something we are blessed with this year thanks to gm JB. For them to get two players that can slot in and improve there lineup right now would have to make them think about it. I understand your point but I think your looking at it wrong. Hansen played top 6 minutes last year. Mattias is a big , strong , hard working , versatile Center that can move around your line up.

I find all the responses that are saying I'm out to lunch and loling funny. Short sighted cdc at it again.

Yup, I get the other part of your argument, but even then Jenner's worth more than Gaunce - we'll both agree on that. Hansen doesn't have a lot of trade value, but if that's not enough to balance it out (again, CBJ needs top end forwards, they'd have to be the ones convinced by that deal and I'd guess the poster proposing it didn't want to move Shinkaruk, Jensen or someone even better) then a pick isn't unreasonable. Maybe a 4th or something instead, but if you're offering lesser pieces then you have to add.

Want to take a guess who finished on the top line as a winger last year and was due to start the year on the top line again (particularly in Horton's absence)? Yup, Jenner.

And in light of that, considering their injuries, why would they want to trade away someone who fits in their top 6 for more bottom 6 help? It's not like we're giving them back Jensen/Kassian/Shinkaruk/etc. to offset Jenner's current point per game pace. To put that in perspective, Jenner has 4 points in 4 games while Matthias and Hansen combined have 7 in 32.
