not sure why every yr the second unit pp is so bad hamhuis weber burrows and higgins shouldnt get a minute of pp time they are horrible. double shift edler and tanev at least they are mobile and get shots off. Think outside the box its not working maybe give kassian a shot. sit him in front of net screening goalie and pulling john leclair dirty garbage goals. In my eyes this teams a pretender until they get a mobile ppqb and a mean shutdown guy we have to many top9 forwards and to many dmen that are stagnant trade or waive some assets for what we are missing. ( burrows, hansen, weber, hamhuis, jensen, mattias, richardson) could all go in my eyes give the kids a chance (kassian, vey, horvat, gaunce, kenins, shinkaruk)

canucktravella I suggested weber because he does have a good shot combined with as you said and I was thinking the same thing. Kassian in front of the net screening hopefully it would generate chances from rebounds and Kassian can get some of those garbage goals and maybe he'll even surprise you and beat the goalie clean Salo style

They just lack a true playmaker. Burrows, Bonino and Higgins are so good as a line 5-on-5 because they're all gritty forwards who forecheck hard and play well defensively, then pounce and score opportunistic goals. That's obviously not how powerplays work. That trio lack a playmaker, which is exactly what a good PP needs.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Edler - Vbrata

(set Kassian in front of the net, similar to where Vey was, but closer to the crease and keep Vbrata at a point so he can slide in and shoot every now and then if the twins can't set up Kassian for a quick one timer in the slot)

Burrows - Bonino - Vey

Hamhuis - Bieksa

(Burrows is the net presence here, Vey is the quaterback/playmaker on the half-boards, Bonino skates around to snipe and we have two defencemen shooting for Burrow/Bonino-tips)

I like this. But sub in weber over bieksa on the 2nd unit when he is in the lineup.
