DanHamhuis2
In the third period between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres, after James Reimer lets in a goal by Zemgus Girgensons, a Leafs scarf was thrown on the ice. As the game went on, it appeared a jersey was also thrown onto the ice http://ww2.nationalpost.com/m/wp/blog.html?b=sports.nationalpost.com/2014/11/15/toronto-maple-leafs-fans-toss-scarf-cheer-for-raptors-during-ugly-loss-to-buffalo-sabres
Grapefruits
Isn't that likr the third jersey this season? Further proof that some Leafs fans are idiots and apparently have more money than brains.
Aladeen
New marketing strategy!! Step 1: Play awful Step 2: Fans Throw Jerseys/merch On Ice, leading to needing to buy more. Step 3: Profit

SabreFan1
A whole bunch of scarves were getting thrown. The tossers were getting ejected as soon as they threw them, even if it didn't make it's way to the ice. The Toronto fans also chanted for the Raptors and Argos. Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
Still, it must be nice for Toronto folk to just have to drive two hours and see more hockey games.
SabreFan1
Still, it must be nice for Toronto folk to just have to drive two hours and see more hockey games. I guess they also get a decent number of leafs fans at Red Wings games as well. Although I seriously doubt that it's anywhere near the numbers that you see at First Niagara Center. McBackup
Still, it must be nice for Toronto folk to just have to drive two hours and see more hockey games. This has got to be the reason people here want a team in Seattle
Ghostsof1915
This has got to be the reason people here want a team in Seattle No we just want to see a hockey market where fans show up. Namely, people from the GVRD to watch games. Who knows? They might even be affordable.
THERETOOL
and they still sell out every game and even bundle up to watch it in the freezing ass square .. love is blind

-DLC-
Does anyone remember when road fans did this during a game against the Lions? Wally had to pull the team from the bench and they went to the middle of the field because they were getting pelted with phones, garbage cans, etc? Brilliant. Only a rocket scientist tosses their personal belongings away in a fit of frustration. Alcohol, I meant alcohol.
Mustapha
They threw ..towels! And a ...JERSEY? !! The horror! I wouldn't pay 5 bucks to watch the Leafs play, they are crap every year. Dion Phaneuf has declined every year since his rookie season. James Reimer looks like a decent goalie one night, then completely stinks it up the next night. Also, I am willing to bet Jonathan Bernier wished he was still backing up in LA, his numbers have taken quite a hit.
apollo
So what they made a trip to Buffalo and are angry at their team after investing so much time. It's not even their arena anyways and they'll re purchase that merchandise anyways
viking mama
What? Were they just making more room in their suitcases for all of that Sabres' merchandise they were gonna purchase? With the kind of leadership group that's been chosen to lead the Leafs,... in Phaneuf & Kessel,..who both seem to know very little about how to model class or diplomacy anywhere - what did ya expect? Monkey see,..monkey do, I suppose.
SabreFan1
Here's a couple of jokes that a random Leafs fan tweeted just after the game. I love good jabs at Toronto no matter who they're playing. They're probably old jokes, but they're new to me so I got a kick out of them. Phaneuf was asked in the locker room what went wrong. Trying to answer the question, he turned over the puck & the Sabres scored. https://twitter.com/AndrewTumilty/status/533810717871579136 Frustrated Leafs fans throw their scarves on the ice. The Leafs scarf immediately deflects a goal past Reimer. https://twitter.com/AndrewTumilty/status/533809048907694080
RUPERTKBD
We used to use the old "the scarf is for the 'Keeper so he doesn't get a burn on the back of his neck from the red light going on so often"...
Mr. Ambien
I guess they also get a decent number of leafs fans at Red Wings games as well. Although I seriously doubt that it's anywhere near the numbers that you see at First Niagara Center. I remember seeing quite a number of Wings fans as you head westward past Woodstock. Then of course, between Hamilton and Niagara, especially St. Catharines, I met a number of Sabres fans. They had a good following at a Jack Astor's we ate at a few times in that city. Maybe it's some Sabres initiation ritual for that part of Ontario and he was a convert.

viking mama
We know what 'throwing-in a towel' from a corner means. But,.."throwing-in a Leafs' scarf"? What's a more hopeless message than that?
