darkpoet
For a hockey-mad town, every year I see the same thing. LOTS of open ice outside with nobody on it. Anyway, if any of you living in the area are into a game of shinny or whatever, PM me or just come out. Bring a net because mine got destroyed last year, lol Right now there are 2 ponds on east side road between Pen and Ok falls that are good to go. Skated on the small one yesterday - awesome. Gonna hit the bigger one here in a bit. Big sheet of glass ! See ya'z out there, maybe -dark

darkpoet
Nobody's on it because they're working or in school. Yes, I realize it's Monday. We don't all work 9-5 M-F I was out there yesterday (Sunday) and the only people who joined me were a couple that were visiting from New Zealand. They were driving by and saw me, said hello, went back to where they were staying and grabbed some skates then came back. Anyway, just putting the word out. Just randomly thinking of ideas, but what about garage sale-like posters on popular street corners or posts advertising the ice? I was thinking local newspaper ads, but who reads those anymore? Materials like paper/cardboard/coroplast/corriboard, markers, and tape are cheap. Not that I expect people to be there around this time, but for the weekends, it might help. I've posted on some local FB pages etc. Really, there is a lot of traffic on that road so it kind of advertises itself if someone's out there. There are a number of members here who live in the area but not sure how many of them hang out in the "off topic" forum. Worth a shot. Just having some lunch then off into that beautiful day! Warhippy
I live in Pen, we are waiting for Skaha to freeze first which could happen in the next 2 weeks at this temp. The ponds on eastside are a pain in the butt because of parking and access with skates on. Lots of locals hit them up though.
