Virtanen93
Now as a canadian boy born September1993 (few months after canadians won in 1993), i have to wonder. Am i ever going to see a canadian team win the cup? HECK i cheered for the oilers and flames when they made it to the finals. Flame won it in game 6 OT imo but got ripped off, some may disagree. 2011 was just devastating to me. Canucks going up 2-0 & 3-2 against the Bruins. That will haunt me forever until we finally win. Its been 21 years. That is way to long. If ever who do you think the first canadian team to win will be and what year. I am going to predict Canucks in 2017. Projected lineup: Sedin Sedin Vrbata Jensen Bonino Virtanen Shinkaruk Horvat Vey Dorsett McCaan Kassian Hamhuis Edler Tanev Sbisa SubbanTryamkin Weber Stanton Corrado Miller Markstrom/Demko/Lack Now obviously theres going to be trades and FA signings. Or maybe even a star draft pick. So this obviously wont be our exact lineup but this is projected from the roster we currently have

Virtanen93
However long it takes to get a new Commissioner. Im not a fan of conspiracy but there are deffiently time when i sit down and think there has to be some sort of it. 2 quick examples: Calgary disallowed goal in game 6 OT that would have given them the cup. Coyotes OBVIOUS!!!!! high stick goal last game.
-Vintage Canuck-
The Canadiens and Canucks are the two teams who have the best chance of winning the cup out of all the Canadian teams right now. But I really don't think we will see a Canadian team winning it under Bettman. There was a report that Bettman sees himself continuing as commissioner through at least the next five years. So really, probably in 6-8 years is when we will see a Canadian team winning the cup, just my prediction.
Green Building
You are sure on a roll tonight Gary Bettman is annoying, and whether or not he is growing the game to see profits never seen before, some of his moves (including potential upcoming expansions to ridiculous cities like Vegas) make me want to preemptively projectile vomit. BUT, your avatar cracks me up every single time.

Virtanen93
Wait, is Bettman calling high sticks now? Im sorry. Did i say bettman? Lol i dont think so. If you look at the replay it was CLEARLY 110% a highstick. His stick was the same height as millers glove which was a good foot above crossbar. -AJ-
Canadiens look the best right now, but both the Canucks and the Flames are making comebacks. I think we (the Canucks) have a better shot in the next few years than the Flames with an experienced core. The Oilers seem to be in a never-ending rebuild and the Leafs don't seem to be coming back in a big way either. The Jets have an outside shot but aren't likely and the Sens are in about the same spot as the Jets. So long story short, the Canadiens are the most likely to break the drought as of now. 24K PureCool
Hate to say it but in the next few years, the best chance of Canada reclaiming the cup is through the Canadiens. For us getting through California and the Western conference is just a bit too hard, and we like 2011 will probably be too banged up to challenge for the cup if we can get into the final. Who am I kidding, the Oilers will get it done this season.

Coyotes OBVIOUS!!!!! high stick goal last game. A couple other examples would be draft lotteries and the way officiating changes in the playoffs. Anything to grow the game it seems, which is why I doubt any Canadian team will win anytime soon. Much more money to be made if U.S. teams win. Canada would need another team to be as good as the 2011 Canucks, but also being able to stay healthy, to win. Our core has been through it before, so I suppose we're the closest team to reaching that. Just my predictions.
the grinder
with buttman in charge no Canadian team will win the cup, the nhl has a answer for everything prime example chris pronger , injured player still on flyers payroll , gets job with nhl as player safety , and now gets fast tracked to the hockey hall of fame while still being paid as a injured player , what a bunch of crap
LaBamba
As much as we have improved our prospect pool over the last few years to soften the eventual turn over when the Sedin's leave we are still very much a now team. We have younger surrounding players, but our core is still quite old. Over the next 3 or so years I would say the Canucks and the Habs will have the best shot. More so the Habs because of how wide open the east is. We would need more of a magic run like in 94 to have a chance. We will Definately not be favourites in the next 3 years. As much as I hate them, the Flames have a really strong young core developing. They play hard and seem to have a good team culture. If I was a betting man I would say the Flames have the best shot to be an elite Stanley cup favourite type team down the road. Flame away No pun intended
Guest Dasein
On the West - NOT Edmonton On the East - NOT Toronto That's the only real certainty IMO. Montreal is closest, then Vancouver and Calgary next, followed by Winnipeg and Ottawa.

Twilight Sparkle
I also cheered for the Oilers, Flames, and Senators when they made their respective Finals. i cheered for the oilers, but i was happy when the flames and sens lost to their respective opponents. the flames because i fell in love with how amazing lecavalier was with marty, and the sens are like the red headed bastard child team of canada, like who cares about the sens, really
