Ryan Kesler and his grumpiness return to Vancouver for a Canuck throw down

By Josh Cooper13 minutes agoPuck Daddy

Mr. Grumpy is back in Vancouver.

Yes, Ryan Kesler, the guy who demanded a trade out of Vancouver, but has talked how much he loves the city, will play the Canucks on Thursday night in his first return to Rogers Arena in another jersey.

Of course, any story involving a player who left Vancouver on 'meh' terms involves the media's relationship with said player. Said Kesler during a press conference Wednesday:

“I think you guys think I’m grumpy all the time. Sometimes, I just don’t want to talk you."

And then Kesler went on to discuss how the media at Anaheim hasn't been as difficult on him.

“The media here, they haven’t been hard on me."

C'mon Anaheim media people, you have to pry more, dig deeper or whatever they do in Vancouver to always seem to tick off the players in their market.

In our Puck Daddy Interview with Kesler a few weeks ago, he did say that he could more easily leave the game at the rink.

He also said he likes the weather in Southern California, but then again who doesn't.

There is a hockey component to all this. Who did win the trade that involved Kesler going to the Ducks in a package that included Nick Bonino and Luca Sbisa going to the Canucks?

The answer, as of Nov. 20, is that everybody has won! Bonino has 15 points in 19 games, Sbisa has become a decent depth defenseman for Vancouver and Kesler has given the Ducks the second-line center they need to go up against the Kings. He has 15 points in 20 games and has won 56.2 percent of his face offs.

Free frosties for everyone!

"This is the most mutually beneficial blockbuster trade in NHL history, in my opinion."

Whether Kesler gets booed is another story -- of course that's going to happen, and yes he was asked about this where he said he hoped it would be a "warm reception. Either way, it's always fun when a WWE villain goes home.
