Hey guys!

This will be my first NHL game live experience and I'm some what of a Canuck die hard like many of you lol. I got some real great seats behind the Canucks bench as the day comes closer the more I find mwwle

Stupid phone.. sorry lol. Anyways I find myself kind or intimidated. What are experiences like being a visitor into home team building? Are people generally rude and annoying or is it pretty tame? I expect a few chirps here and there which is understandable and somewhat respectable but I just don't want it to get to a point where it's just going to ruin my experience. So if there's any fellow advice or past experiences at the Joe or any other arena for that matter I'd lIke to hear it lol

just don't act like a jerkoff and you're good. you're there to support the team and, for the most part, people will respect that. if people engage in a convo with you, don't be shy. put their team over and just be respectful and you'll have no problems. you may get 1 or 2 a-holes there, but we have those people here too. sometimes it can't be helped

just enjoy they game, win or lose

Been twice to the Canucks games at the MTS center... Jets fans are some of the worst you'll meet, but it wasn't too bad. First time I had a drunk guy tell me "Kesler f***ing sucks* because I had my Kesler jersey, but thats it for the first time. I then took a picture with some guy in a Hamhuis millionaires jersey, so that was dece. The second time I went I had 4 guys in suits behind me telling me how the Canucks suck and how they should join the Swedish Olympic diving team and on and on and on. Higgins scored in the shootout to win it so I turned around and flipped them off, so it was worth it ;)

Honestly it depends on the fans, you will probably just get a few comments from drunk passer byers, but thats it. The best part is seeing all the pissed off fans as you walk out of the arena with your Canucks jersey

I've worn my blue

@ the United center (Chicago, when hansen slapped hossa in the head, SOL)

@nationwide arena (Columbus, another SOL)

And at the joe multiple times.

Columbus was by far the best experience. I was complimented multiple times on my jersey quality by cbj fans. Canuck trainer gave me a one of keslers sticks. Staff was excited to see actual hockey fans.

United center was very intimidating. I was heckled the entire time. Mostly by some punk kid. Bieksa ended up tying the game woth like 12 seconds left so i gave it back to the fans hard. The United center is in the ghetto. After the game i did feel threatened and it was almost impossible to get a cab with my jersey on. 1hr.

Ive only had a problem at the joe once. We lost like 7-2. that was the birth of 7uongo. He wasn't pulled because Cory was sick. During the game i was fine. After the game some trash with no education (or teeth) was leaning into me hard. My buddy (a wings fan) came to my defense and out him in his place.

Anyways you should be fine. Ill be there on the bench side. Halfway up. If you have any problems ill lend a hand buddy :).

Hey guys thanks for the insight. I don't plan on starting anything and would prefer a non confrontational experience obviously but I'm not too concerned I'm a pretty big guy after all

I'll be row 10 behind the boys in blue. Come say hey if you notice me! Big bearded brown guy lol

Only been to a couple of games myself and both were here, but I would recommend making sure your phone is fully charged before the game so you can snap some pics to commemorate the event. Hopefully you'll be able to get some nice shots of our players. :) (And of course, as with going to any public event, be sure to turn it on silent out of courtesy.)

Have a great time!

I've been to the Joe 3-4 times wearing my Canucks jersey every time. I've always found Wings fans to be respectable and friendly. Of course, I was acting in a similar fashion. My takeaway is that their long term winning culture has led to a fan base that doesn't suffer from an inferiority complex forcing them to act like jackasses all the time (as in some barns)

Wear the kesler jersey, you obviously bought it because you like him, asking for a trade shouldnt trade that. Plus he's from Michigan so I'm sure red wings fans won't mind. Might even get a few compliments.

For OP - I recommend being drunk and loud, and if anyone says anything, take out the biggest guy there and you will win their respect.
