J.I.A.H.N
Arizona trades: Martin Hanzal, Brandon Gormley, 2015 -2nd, and 2016 -2nd Vancouver trades: Zac Kassian , Richardson, Brendan Gaunce, Jordan Subban, and 2016 - 2nd This allows Vancouver to pick the Best player available in the 1st round of the 2014 - 2015 Draft, as we would be crazy solid down the middle, now and in the future. It also gives us a solid defensive prospect in Gormley, without removing from our current prospects. (Subban is not signed) Loosing Kassian, would be a loss, but IMO his developement is sporatic, I do see the potential, but it isn't consistant enough for me. Hanzel adds size comparable to Kassian's, Actually Hanzel is a monster, with a great faceoff %.. We may have to add a second (2016) to even it out a bit more. (It is almost a 3rd!) Arizona does this because they are strong down the middle, and strong on Defense. Kassian would give them a size replacement for Hanzel and he is younger with a possible higher ceiling. Gaunce gives them young depth at center, who can play the wing as well. Subban has great offensive numbers, that if translated into the NHL could equal or surpass that of Gormley's. Richardson helps fill the void of Hanzels departure. Just an idea...wanted to get roasted! Flame away!

Phil_314
Just an idea...wanted to get roasted! Flame away! I see someone's getting their thanksgiving on! I WOULD like a Hanzal-type player, and Gormley or other defensive prospects of that caliber would be great to have, but then again don`t really want to mess with the top 6 and Horvat should be able to grow into a bullish, strong two-way player like Martin. Wouldn`t mind getting the D-prospect for sure, and swapping Richie for a big bodied guy would be great to have. However, there doesn`t need to be such moves to the center group at this moment, and I don`t get the value in the pick and prospect swapping (who or what is worth each guy?). Maybe a Vey-for-(NHL PP QB D-prospect from Medicine Hat) trade, and another trade for a big center? Not ready to give up on Kassian... yet, and I`m of the camp that thinks that the bottom 6 should have more size and power forward potential to battle against the other big west teams. I`d say we are pretty good in terms of smaller, skilled forwards in the top-6 moving forward.

Kassian = Gormley + 2015 2nd Kassian is skilled but inconsistant and Gormley probably has as much up side, but hasn't proved it yet, that is why the 2015 - 2nd is involved Hanzel + 2016 2nd (40th) = Richardson, Gaunce, Subban, and 2016 - 2nd (55th) We pay alot for Hanzel, but there is no gaurantee that Richardson resigns with them, and Hanzel is a bigger, better Richardson. Gaunce and 2016 2nd ensure some fairness to the trading of Hanzel, Subban = Arizona's 2015 - 2nd (40th) To me this is a big picture trade, as what Arizona trades collectively = what Vancouver trades collectively Summary: D. Sedin H. Sedin VrBata Higgins Bonino Burrows Matthias Hanzel Vey Hansen Horvat Dorsett Edler Bieska Hanhuis Tanev Sbisa Stanton Gormley Webber Corrado Prospect Centers.......McCann, Cassels, and Fox Prospect Wingers.......Virtanen, Shinkaruk, Kenins Prospect D-Man.........Gormley, Corrado, Hutton, McNally, Anderson, Chederholm Prospect Goalies........Markstrom, Eriksson, Demko 2014/15 Draft 1st Round ( 25th ), 2nd round Arizona's (40th), Canucks (55th) 2015/16 Draft 1st Round (25th), 2nd round Arizona's (40) Not a bad spot to be in! HUGE pass on Gormley. Another left handed stay at home defensemen? No thanks. And trading Kassian while his value is at its lowest would be a colossal mistake. Phil_314
Are there any Coyotes fans on this forum? I would like to hear how they value Martin. Would be a luxury if he could be the 3rd line center and strong defensive presence but moving forward I don`t think I`m alone when it comes to seeing Horvat promoted to the 3rd line, and when that happens I really don`t see how Martin would have a spot up the middle with us (Hank, Bones, Bo) when Martin`s still signed for 3 years. I`m not against paying the price of Gaunce, Richardson and Subban but again my biggest issue is whether he will have a spot. If Gaunce proves that he is ready to bring his size and two-way abilities to the big leagues I don`t think we would even need to do this deal. Also, can we even trade Subban if we haven`t signed him? Hunter.S-Kerouac
I would love to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room when they announce Hanzel is going to be on the team after he knocked 3 players out last season with cheap shots in a single game. I would Imagine he's not well liked. That said I think those 2 players could really help us Gormely would be a great addition. I think you over pay but it would probably take an overpayment. missioncanucksfan
Way too much overpayment.yes coz Arizona just NEEDS Richardson. Trade a top center, a blue chip Defense prospect and high draft picks.....for who? A plug 3rd line center, an enigma and 2 unproven minor players Maloney calls you a frickin arse and hangs up
CALGARY!
damn that Hanzal, so hot right now. No I don't think this trade makes sense to Arizona.
DownUndaCanuck
Bit of an overpayment. Gormley is a solid stay at home guy, Subban is a puck-mover and we only have Edler as a puck-mover in our organization right now. TO VAN: Hanzal and Gormley TO ARI: Kassian, Richardson, Stanton and a 3rd rounder

J.I.A.H.N
decent trade, very nice upgrade for us. Swapping 2016 2nd rounds is really weird though.. The deal with the 2016 - 2nds is that it is a minor move, but gives Vancouver its pick 15 spots earlier.....or rather 15 players earlier....I just thought it would be a way to upgrade and even the trade a smidge( a tiny little bit) some might think that doesn't matter, but you do that twice and it a first rounder.........just saying.......not that it happens.....just an idea The up grade in Gormley allows us to maybe move another left defense without feeling the pain....aka Hamhuis....just saying Then you have a way of up grading you right hand defenseman..........Hamhuis for Pouliot and thier 2nd or something along those lines........only if Gormley is as good as they say.....doesn't have to be Hamhuis, just using him as an example
J.I.A.H.N
Whether or not anyone likes my trade and there are way better ideas out there than mine........this is how I see JM........little subtle changes, up grading this moving that......kind of like chess......he's not finished by a long shot, but it will be subtle.......from what I have heard Gormley is a young Hamhuis with alittle more offensive upside......and 8 or 9 years younger...that's a good upgrade, especially if it allows you to do other things....just saying
tyhee
I like this proposal-partly because I just can't be sure if it favours one side or the other. It's thought-provoking and with so much potential changing hands each way it is almost inevitable that opinion will range from thinking the Canucks are giving way too much: Way too much overpayment. to the poster that believes equally strongly that Canucks are giving way too little: yes coz Arizona just NEEDS Richardson. Trade a top center, a blue chip Defense prospect and high draft picks.....for who? Canucks are not going after Hanzal....nor are they going after Gormley. Hanzal is Arizonas best center and Csnucks dont have the assets that we are willing to move. Arizona very much still has Gormley in their future plans. They have ZERO reason or pressure to deal him. He is developing just fine. On the other hand....Schlemko's name has been linked to us. Most likely coz he played in MH for Willie.
