BeefcakeBo
New Jersey Devils have signed Scott Gomez to a contract last night. Terms reported by Sportsnet are 1 year, 2 way at 550k.http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=741774 I think it's pretty funny that he has ended up in New Jersey again. He probably won't do much, but maybe a shot with the Devils will help him find his game again.
Jägermeister
He's just fine as a 4th liner. Generally a good puck possession player, and has always been better than average at face-offs.
Neversummer
Now you know NJ is desperate.
Chalky
It's not a bad contract really. Even if he gets 10 pts in 40 games in a depth role, it is worth it for the league min for a vet like Gomez. I do wonder what his AHL salary is.

Master Mind
Apparently Henrique and Zajac will be out for a couple of games, so getting Gomez to fill in for one of them makes sense.
coryberg
He does not play for money anymore No doubt. He's made 62 million dollars in his NHL career. The interest in his savings account alone would trump his league min salary.
Hunter.S-Kerouac
Good for him. If he can turn it around NJ will be the place to do it.

Devils might as well be a retirement home
hatedkid666
Great deal for New Jersey. Everyone said he was bad before because of his 7 million dollar contract.
Nuxfanabroad
Same day they signed a 'special asst' to tyrant GM, Lou Lamoreillo. Congrats Mr Ponce DeLeon.

MalkinInTheMiddle
Solid signing. Look for him to bounce back in NJ. He will be playing 2nd line by Christmas
BeefcakeBo
How many goals will Gomez score this season? I'd put my money on less than 5. Who knows though maybe he will surprise.
Canuck Surfer
I'm surprised Carolina or Edm did not sign him... They have several AHL forwards on their roster.
LaBamba
The Devils have or had a brand of hockey. Only certain players were Devils. They either left the Devils and sucked, or sucked until they played for the Devils. Scott Gomez proves this theory. He is probably too old to get back to the Devil he was, but I think this is a way to close the book on the biggest mistake he made in his hockey career. It's easy to forget how great of a Devil he was.
