Anthony Clowe, 51, of Paradise is charged with money laundering and possessing property obtained by crime. Well, that's just bad PR. No other way to look at it. I'm no fan of Ryan Clowe but I have to feel bad for him...provided he kept his nose clean...

theminister
Not surprising in the least, really. That's just the saltiness of fisherman societies. Being from Steveston myself I can confidently say that everyone is a little bit crooked or has friends/family/acquaintances that are. Newfoundland is the same. Generally standup people though regardless.

Meh, a lot of slightly crooked people are relatively benign. These are the same smugglers that gave us screech and Seagrams. Low level pirates. I see it as the same thing, more or less. theminister
Han Solo was a smuggler and he turned out to be a good guy. Sometimes you have to shoot first. Same crooks that kept the gin joints lubricated in the 20s. I don't think society had a major problem with that.

Canuck Surfer
Problem is even the benign, through no choice of their own get involved with the truly crooked in these sorts of affairs. I know of more than one to have been found in a ditch in Steveston. One with a pole up his patute. My apologies for being blunt. This is not really that sterile. D-Money
He basically accepted stolen money which 9/10 people will do. Ryan Clowe is getting paid 4.85 million this year, and has 4 points... So he's in the 90 percent too.
