Lafayettecrossbar
I'm pretty interested in sports marketing and was curious about a couple things. I noticed a couple of WJC's ago Malcolm Subban was wearing CCM gear for Canada, then later that NHL season it seemed like quite a few goalies had switched over to CCM (Bernier, Varlomov, Bobrovsky, Price, etc.) I hadn't seen CCM goalie gear in quite some time, are they owned by a parent company going through a rebranding? I also read a while back from Elliotte Friedman, I believe, that Adidas (owner of Reebok) was mulling over getting into the hockey gear market - has anyone heard anything else about this? etsen3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCM_%28ice_hockey%29 According to wikipedia, CCM is owned by Reebok. Last year they launched a new CCM line of goalie gear.
elvis15
Yes, Reebok owns the CCM brand, much the same as Nike owns Bauer. When Reebok bought CCM they dropped all that and used the Reebok/RBK branding instead. They 'relaunched' the CCM branding recently as mentioned above. EDIT: here's some of the videos from earlier this year about the CCM Tacks skates being re-released.
