Days after the judge decided not to induct the officer Pantaleo, who put the chokehold on Eric Garner, students at University of California turned violent. On Saturday night, the students turned violent as two officers were injured, five police vehicles, stores, and other property was destroyed. Officers then used tear gas and smoke to disperse the crowd. By Sunday morning, a total of six protesters were arrested.

Man what's happening in the USA? Seems like the justice system is letting everyone down these days and it leads to more rioting... Obama needs to do more than do speeches about what's right and what's wrong on how to protest because this is gone too far. Innocent people are being affected by this especially those local business owners that are in risk of looters and vandalism.

A controversial ruling doesn't mean you're allowed to violently protest.

The issue is that everyone has their own envision of what's "just and right", especially with recent racially-based crimes that've been portrayed as such (Travyon Martin, Michael Brown, others that we don't really hear of) makes the perception that the legal system is crooked and in favor of the police/white people.

For some, nonviolent protest is the answer. But some people go by the "eye for an eye" mantra. Regardless of the fact that they're basically ruining the lives of people who have nothing to do with any incident.

More and more self-entitles idiots today that think if a judge doesn't rule in their favour they're allowed to go violently protest and destroy property of people that had nothing to do with the ruling.

Pretty much. Lets look at this realistically for a minute. Both the Ferguson and New York incidents could have easily been avoided if they both didn't break the law and then resist arrest.

These protests and riots are ridiculous. I've been following a few and mostly its just people doing whatever they can to basically get a negative reaction from the cops. They push and push and push, then when the cops pushes back a little they scream POLICE BRUTALITY!

There WAS police brutality in Eric garners case. What law did he break? Selling cigarettes on the sidewalk ? Is that a reason for 3-4 cops to basically jump a overweight person with severe asthma ? He repeated "I can't breathe" atleast 8 times while that Idiot cop still kept him in a headlock. Also when he lay their dead infront of their faces they still didn't have the decency to take the handcuffs off they pretended as if he was still alive, and they would take him to the hospital and later claim he died their when he clearly died right in front of them. If you don't know about a case just don't comment.

You should take your own advice. Yes, he broke the law by selling cigarettes. He was also out on bail for illegally selling cigarettes, driving without a license, marijuana possession and false impersonation. He resisted arrest, that's the reason they "jumped" him. It's not the cops fault he had heart disease, severe asthma, diabetes, obesity, and sleep apnea. He also didn't die on the street. He died of a heart attack in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

You choose to break the law and resist arrest, bad things can happen, especially when your health is that poor.

vast majority of the protesters are totally peaceful. most aren't masked or throwing stuff. there's a large community in the bay area that is committed to stirring up trouble (i think they literally refer to themselves as anarchists) and show up at each protest with the purpose of causing violence

this has nothing to do with a bunch of people feeling entitled to destroy small business lol

Bottom line is that his main cause of death was a chokehold BANNED for the nypd. Simple as that, and he was dead on the spot , there is no way you lay unconscious for 15 min and have a sudden heart attack in the ambulance. That's just major damage control from the police knowing that they killed the unarmed man. Even in the video the dumb cop who should be sitting behind bars right now was smiling and laughing pointing at the cameraman, when the dirtbag really should be helping the other officers pick him up and put his lifeless body on a stretcher. Bad things do not happen when law enforcement uses the proper tactics set for them in situations like this. It's unfortunate he had very poor health, I'm sure if he was athletic and had a 6 pack the chokehold was called for ?

Keep in mind he had nothing illegal on him and was killed over mere suspicion. Some people are just clueless and everytime they hear a word like "riot" they assume "OHHHH dumb people rioting for no reason".

Had he complied with the officers, he would still be alive. Just because you tell a cop leave me alone, don't touch me, that doesn't mean anything. If he had complied, he would be alive.

Bahahaha that's how it's supposed to work. But there's a million mile gap in the states between theory and reality.
