Rangers announced today that the team has agreed to terms with free agent defenseman Chris Falzone on a 1 day contract.

Chris Falzone, 15, is a diehard hockey fan. He started skating when he was seven years old and played on travel hockey teams and was just beginning his high school career, when he was diagnosed with cancer at the start of his freshman year. Hockey gave him a reason to fight through the darkest days of cancer and chemotherapy, and as sick as he was, the only thing he ever asked the doctors was “when can I play again.” In late July, 2014 he was cleared to begin skating and has now rejoined his travel hockey team and is about to try out for his high school hockey team.

I'm back to say how great of a rookie season Aaron Ekblad is having.

25GP 4g 13a 17pts 6PIM +6

He's tied for first in team scoring (a very low-scoring team) and has the highest +/- among Panthers defenseman (and tied second overall on the team). All while being played top-pairing minutes as an 18 year old rookie (that looks like a 28 year old man).

I know Forsberg in NSH is getting all of the Calder-love, and for good reason, but I've almost been more impressed by Ekblad's great start given the circumstances.
