Honeydew
Ottawa Senators ✔ @Senators Follow #Sens general manager Bryan Murray announced that Dave Cameron will take over as the head coach of the Senators. 12:01 PM - 8 Dec 2014 A quote from Bryan Murray, "Dave Cameron is a guy that’s coached in the American Hockey League and more recently he’s coached Team Canada World Junior, and he’s been a junior coach with great success. I think in particular with our younger people he’ll be a good teacher; he’s a former teacher. He’s got a hockey IQ, he’s played in the league. I think he’s got some people skills that are very necessary to be a coach. ... I think he’ll relate a little bit to what we need here with some of our youth in particular and the veteran guys. We don’t have a lot of older players, so I think they’ll certainly like Dave. I don’t know that he’s a players’ coach or a demanding coach; I do know that he’s a teacher." Nuxfanabroad
Certainly was fast. In fairness to Bryan Murray, he's probably not considering time as people normally might. Surprised he's chosen to continue working, with the severity of his health.
Hobble
Well, he's been to the bottom of the ocean. That's a deeper hole than the Senators are in right now. Could be good.

Just a step to the right
Neversummer
Don't understand this move. I mean there are some good unemployed coaches out there ... like Bylsma.
Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
Bryan Murray is probably making yet another boneheaded move. Apart from his deathly illness he is probably one of the most disliked GMs out there.
Dazzle
If Cameron is a teacher (or former teacher), as he's emphasized twice, Desjardins just so happens to be a teacher too. Ottawa's copying us?!
hatedkid666
Interesting move. It will fun to see if Ottawa falls apart this season or starts to make a surge for the playoffs
DeNiro
I think the Canucks set a trend of hiring a coach with a teaching degree. Ottawa is following closely behind. Communication and being able to get players to connect is crucial after all.
Ghostsof1915
So .500 hockey gets you fired in Ottawa. How does Eakins keep his job?
bigbadcanucks
So .500 hockey gets you fired in Ottawa. How does Eakins keep his job? Different standards, I suppose.
BeefcakeBo
So .500 hockey gets you fired in Ottawa. How does Eakins keep his job? Because he's doing what the management wants well over the. 500 that they are going for.
