J.I.A.H.N
Well, this what everyone suggested last year........don't trade Edler until his value is high. Ok, Edlers having a pretty solid first half.......now is the time to trade him! What is his value now? Who wants him the most? My choice to Winnipeg for: Morrissey and 2015 first (20th), 2015 3rd(80h) for Edler and Gaunce 2nd trade (Bos) McQuaid for Van (Higgins)
desiboynux4lifee*******
NTC, these players are like kings, like Burrows and Bieksa. Who are playing like garbage and refuse to be traded. We have 3-4 years to put up with this non-sense thanks Gillis. Furthermore, they get every oppertunity to contribute offensively, yet they fail. Players like Burrows and Bieksa are declining and they need to be traded, but they will not waive their NTC. Its fair i guess they earned thier NTC? Warhippy
Pffft Edler? He's got more value to us than in a trade. So essentially he's worthless, ala cdc standards
Tom Sestito
I wasn't an advocate of trading Edler last year, and I'm still not an advocate of doing it. He's got a fair contract, and he's a good #2 or #3. Good luck getting Morrissey though.

Gives them instantly a great defence, much like what happened on the Island this year? I think Winnipeg jumps at it!
DownUndaCanuck
Edler has been the Canucks MVP this season and most consistent player. Not putting up points, but he's been playing more than he ever has in his career while our pathetic bottom-4 get played about 15 minutes a night. Edler and Tanev have been rocks on the Canuck blue line and quite frankly, if Edler was playing the way he was last season, the Canucks would be bottom-4 in the Conference easily. Untouchable. He deserves to be a Canuck and there's no way we'd recover if we lost him in a trade, even if it was for a good young defence man. I wouldn't even do Edler for Pouliot + because it'd leave such a huge gaping hole in our team right now.

Gives them instantly a great defence, much like what happened on the Island this year? I think Winnipeg jumps at it! I do think he's a very solid #3 on the Canucks, and a very capable #2. While yes Winnipeg does have a current need for a top four defenseman, I think they'd be looking at cheap stopgap options until Morrissey is ready - which shouldn't be far away (2 years?) Enstrom - Bogosian Morrissey - Trouba That's probably what they're going to wait for.
LaBamba
Don't you want a solid Dman that we drafted and devolved? Don't you want a guy who doesn't want to wave his NTC? His value is more then a team would be willing to pay if that makes sense.
Outsiders
2015 2nd top d-man prospect and then like a higgins type 2-3 liner but meant more for the 3rd line

People use it for every single player on the roster. Edler's the type of player that teams do pay premiums for.

J.I.A.H.N
I don't know if you guys are old enough to remember a Canuck Dman named Dana Murzyn? He was always making mistakes, then one year he had an incredible year where he was voted the Canuck best Dman......I told my father-in-law at the time, we should trade him, as it would be his best season, and sure enough.....boom! back to a #5 or #6 for the rest of his career! Now, I am not saying Edler is that bad or his future will be the same, but if you look at his career, he's been very inconsistant........many wanted him gone and now is your chance......... Don't whine about it later! LOL

A trade that doesn't make sense is completely different from "his value being higher to us than every other team".
