smokes
So now that Horvat is playing in the NHL and Schneider is finally a number one goaltender. Did Vancouver or New Jersey win this trade? Was it a win win for both teams? Still too early to tell?

Langdon Algur
Still to early to tell. Oddly enough a lot depends on how well Lack, Miller or Markstrom play over the next few years. We manage to get decent goaltending then we won't miss Schneider as much. Horvat's looking like a solid prospect but his current worth isn't as much as a franchise goalie like Schneider. Again too early to tell, both players have alot of NHL hockey left in them.
AriGold
As of this very second Schneider is making a bigger impact on the Devils compared to Horvat on the Canucks. That being said he's also 9 years older. By the time it's all played out let's see who wins which team a Stanley Cup first.
SabreFan1
Who "one" the trade? You may want to edit your title.
D-Money
All Schneider is doing for Jersey this year is lessening their chances of getting McDavid/Eichel.
Mr.53
Still too early to tell. However, the fact that Bo is a 19 year old and playing in the NHL does really speak well of him. It's pretty rare for someone his age to be good enough to crack an NHL roster and make an impact in any sort of way. Still, I feel like until Bo shows he has for sure all star potential, we can't fully say we won, as I do think Cory Schneider is an all star worthy goaltender. (Maybe not this year with the abysmal devils, but next year, he can be back in the running)
CALGARY!
Much to early to tell, as of right now today, NJ won the trade simply because Shneider plays a huge role on their team, whereas Horvat is still being groomed in Vancouver, and, as such, his contributions arent critical to the success or failure of the team yet. In 3-5 years this could be re-visited, once we see how Horvat turns out and what type of role he plays in Vancouver. Another point, is, that just because Vancouver drafted Horvat, it doesnt mean NJ's GM and scouts would have selected him, whose to say they wouldnt have picked Nichuskin or anyone else that went 9-15. So its really tough to say who won the trade. I would say, at the time it mutually benefitted both teams, NJ needed to usher out their legendary goaltending beast and needed an immiediate replacement, as Clemmenson wasnt gonna cut it, and Vancouver needed desperately to inject some high end prospects into their depth charts. So you could say the trade was pretty even.

R3aL
Seeing as they have a proven starting NHL goalie starting almost every game, and we have a Fourth Line Centre, they have won the trade in the Short Run. We also took on the greater risk of the trade. If we did not sign Miller, we would have lost the trade even more so in the Short Run. In the long run, the trade should be a win-win for both organizations. Horvat has the makings of a serious player and contribute to our teams long term success. It has been a long time since a player of his age has made the team, made an impact (Faceoffs) and really completed our fourth line. Plus he brings his youthful enthusiasm which our stale core has most likely needed!

Swedish elite3
Short run it was definitely was NJ who won the trade but it wasnt a trade that was expected to produce for us right away, in the long run there is no doubt we will win, maybe in the next year or two we will really see, Schneider hasn't played super well this year but that may be because of a dismal team in front of him
BanTSN
We did. If Schneider was a decent starting goaltender, then NJ would be doing far better in the standings currently. Meanwhile, NJ sure could use a player like Nichushkin right about now, since they already have plenty of 2-way centers. Horvat's better for us though, and he's already a solid two-way center and faceoff ace at the age of 19. Incredibly rare. Gillis absolutely robbed them on the trade and selected the better player for us to win with.
JeremyCuddles
We got cap and a blue chip prospect and they got a starting Tender to replace Brodeur. Why can't we both walk out a little bit better then before?
chrisbanks
not fair to compare. different stages at their career both teams have different needs... most morons would say NJ won because they have a starting goalie over a 4th line centre... this is one we can look back at after their careers and if horvat never makes it into a top 6 player ,then NJ won, if horvat gets up there and has a long career and schneids has a long career in NJ then its probably a tie..if horvat gets up to the top 6 quick and is a really big impact players in the league and schneider leaves NJ then we win. alot of things can happen. Honeydew
Would say it's equal, We get someone that's young potential future captain material, clutch goal scorer, great defensively, role model for kids. New Jersey gets a No.1 goalie that replaced Brodeur, positionally sound, steals games for the Devils. Wish we squeezed more out of NJD but honestly looks like an even trade at this point. But we might win by a slight bit because we've also obtained cap space out of it.

Snake Doctor
At this point in time, I would rather have Miller and Lack then Schnieder and Lack. So we definatley won the trade with Bo Horvat as the bonus. Especially since he has already made the jump to the NHL.
