SwissCanucks
Geneva (has won the title last year) has won his first game agains Ufa (KHL team). Guy Boucher coaches Team Canada. Davos has an incredible style of play with manies breack-up passes. Jeff Tambellini plays for Team Canada too !
AriGold
So weird, Ben Walter was on my team when I was 6, 7 and 8 years old with Ryan being our coach. Always thought he would have made it as a real NHL'er.. I will keep my eye on this tournament but not sure if they get any TV time ?

Warhippy
This is where the real heart lies. Seriously love the Spengler most times over the World championship the Olympics and the World Juniors. These are older or washed out players who aren't getting the high billing massive attention or paid to play mentality. They are literally playing for nothing more than the jerseys on their backs a few free meals (some actual cash or expenses I don't doubt) and the actual love of the game. I wish more international shows were like this. The less high profile the better the game

Besides, guys like Tambellini played as hard as they could for their NHL teams. They just weren't good enough to be mainstays. They were fighting hard to stay in the big leagues. I'd still rather watch these guys leave it all on the ice as opposed to guys who've made it and just soak up the pay cheque without trying much after they sign. Seriously, I didn't know anyone actually watched this tournament. You can tell all the interest that this thread is getting. The tourny gets worst and worst every year. Players look like a moving billboard. The referees look like a stupid joke, wtf is on their jersey? I'm surprised this is still going on. I'll give it one more year before they shut it down. SwissCanucks
I didn't know Taylor Pyatt was playing in Switzerland. Him and his brother Tom are both playing in Geneva. @Neversummer: Haha, believe me you don't know anything about Spengler Cup at all ! It's the 88th edition of the tournament this year, and it works pretty well believe me. I was at the first game, and the arena was full or almost. It is one of the most reputed and watched tournament in Europe. This is a big honnor to win in a carrer for a player. Just ask Patrick Kane and Joe Thornton if they didn't care of it at the time they've won it. And yeah, the referee's jerseys are funny but believe me, in Davos everyone wants one of them. So, I have to say that you probably know absolutely nothing from this tournament, and yo probably don't know anything about european hockey. Of course they get paid to play, between billets and possible endorsements these kids are usually well taken care of and this si not even mentioning signing bonuses. Just so we are clear, are you arguing to tournament is stupid because of the jerseys or? Because the NHL jerseys say Reebok and there is a lot of talk about adding corporate sponsorship to jerseys at the professional level so.... This tournament is awesome to watch. None of the crap associated with the big tournaments like world journey mens worlds or the olympics. Just shut up play hockey. When they say play with heart and passion this is the tournament for it.
