TheOgRook
Wasn't Arcabello playing 3c for Edmonton this year? Now traded for waiver bate? Mctavish is a beast!
Kakanucks
I thought Roy cleared waivers? So why didn't the oilers just pick him up from waivers? were they only allowed to pick up one player? so they claimed Fraser? Confusing
elvis15
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 17m EDM would make the trade instead of waivers to keep them away from 50 contracts. EDM also coming up to 40 games, which would burn a year of Draisaitl's free-agency timetable. No salary retention in this EDM/NASH trade So Edmonton declines to claim Roy on waivers, holds Draisaitl out from the World Juniors, then trades for Roy and sends Draisaitl back to junior. They could have traded a minor contract earlier (or just made the same trade beforehand) and allowed Draisaitl to play for Germany, but instead they do whatever this is. Tortorella's Rant
Get rid of Gazdic if you're worried about the reserve list. He's a giant turd on skates. You don't need him.
Honeydew
Weird move by EDM.... all this to avoid hitting the 50 contract total?
TOMapleLaughs
Rumours of his demise greatly exaggerated, Roy Baby is back! Now maybe Edmonton can at least be semi-respectable? With Roy's 1 goal in 26gp? Or what? MacT on fire!
Tortorella's Rant
Also, I guess you can only make one waiver claim at a time? Otherwise why not just claim Roy and keep Arcobello? They need all the help they can get. Arco isn't a bad player either..
silver_surfer
Well they were at 50 contracts with the Fraser pickup, so it was necessary if they wanted both Roy and Fraser. MacT reminds me of Nonis, remember when Matt Pettinger was someone they had "coveted" for a long time? Bernier, Pyatt, etc. hoping to find a gem in the garbage, and too timid to make the big move required to get a big change. Saviors off the waiver wire, lol. TOMapleLaughs
So much for Leon being the next Kopitar. (It would help if he could skate.)
Tortorella's Rant
It would help if he wasn't in that environment. They should have sent his ass back to the dub.
Canuck Surfer
More excited on their behalf they picked up Fraser. Boy works hard! Don't know if he'll make it or be good for them. But never hurts to give a crack to a guy who busts his hump!
ken kaniff
Great. A soft team getting a small soft player. Makes sense. I just dont get it
nuck nit
Good move by Edmonton.Roy is an undervalued veteran presence which allowed management to deal with one kid that should not be in the NHL.

Well having just claimed a player their priority level was low, assuming a team like WPG, ANH or CBJ would need to replace some players lost to injury. I'm not saying it fixes a lot. But it's something. As above. Getting Fraser is better...
TOMapleLaughs
Arco: 7g 5a -7 in Edmonton Roy: 1g 9a -0 in Nashville Fraser: 3g 0a -5 in Boston Hmmm. Doesn't quite compute, does it?
