ken kaniff
Just a couple trades that may help Edmonton get out of the basement next year. Unfortunately for them, they have a few really bad contracts that are probably unmovable. ________________________________ Edmonton: RW Nail Yakupov, D Jeff Petry Arizona: D Keith Yandle, C Antoine Vermette -Yandle and Vermette are on the trading block apparently. -Yandle improves the oilers defense. Vermette is a good vet 2C -Yakupov still has potential to become a dynamic winger. Petry replaces Yandle until one of their young guys takes the spot. ________________________________ Edmonton: LW David Perron Pittsburgh: C Brandon Sutter -Dupuis is out for the foreseeable future. Perron gives them a top 6 winger (57pts last year) -Edmonton gets a good two way centerman to help with their overall defense. ________________________________ Edmonton: LW Matt Hendricks Chicago: RW Brian Bickell -Chicago is tight against the cap and still need to re sign Saad. -Bickell is expendables. Chicago gets a cheaper contract -Edmonton gets bigger and grittier. ________________________________ I think that another team will win the draft lottery **cough** Arizona **cough**. So they will probably pick Eichel. Either Drasaitl or RNH could possibly be moved to upgrade the team some other way.
elvis15
Interesting moves, but certainly Pittsburgh doesn't take the Perron deal. Arizona might not take the Yakupov deal either, but maybe there's something to the deal with Chicago.
ken kaniff
Why would Pittsburgh not take that deal?
Warhippy
Why would Pittsburgh not take that deal? Sutter is the straw that stirs the drink that is Pitssburgh's bottom 6. Solid player they cannot easily replace, it's taking from one area to patch a hole in another, but having just shifted the hole in your line up to another area. We did that not long ago and ended up without a 3rd line center for a long while
Master Mind
I think Oilers win all 3 trades. Coyotes would be trading 2 good proven players for potential and a fill-in. Sutter is more important to the Pens than Perron would be. Bickell is great in the playoffs. Hawks likely trade him in the off-season, though I'm guessing there would be some team out there willing to trade a 2nd for him.

YEGCanuck
Nice try, however you grossly over-rate the value of the Oiler players.
patrickd73
Yandle-A perennial 45-50 point Dman, and Vermette, a faceoff and defensive specialist, for a second pairing Dman at best in Petry (who's only a year younger than Yandle, and also facing UFA status), and Yakupov. Really? Oilers would have to toss in two 2nd rounders to make that look even remotely good. Pens need Sutter more than Perron, who could likely be had for a 2nd and 3rd instead of messing with the bottom 6 as it stands. Chicago would gain cap space but not much else in that trade, so there's something to that...but then Edmonton has yet another overpaid player. Nah man. For the Pens deal, I don't see the Pens needing to do that-- a pylon with Sid becomes a good scorer. Last deal could work tho.
