What asset(s) would you give up to move up in the draft? (Discussion)

Recommended Posts

Yeah. Who did BUF draft with that pick anyway?

Plus Richie is one of our more versatile forwards who we don't want to move. I don't think we should move him with the way he is playing. He is a keeper in my eyes.

That pick was flipped to Calgary and the Flames selected..... Mark Jankowski....

I'd be willing to move mccann if and only if Barzal is available somewhere around 10.

Van: 10th pick (barzal)

Other team: Mccann, 20th pick

This way we lose a possible 2/3 center which we have a couple already, and we get a guy who would be a good bet to be the #1 center.

The only thing i don't like about this is that our D depth won't be improved nor our wings. At 20 we could pick up a D stud who falls or someone like Sprong, Bittner or maybe even Crouse. Is it really worth losing Mccann to upgrade to Barzal over one of those guys?

Hey G

just want to make sure you understand I wasn't being a smart A$$.........It was a good question to ask about the NTC and since I started this I thought that I would just set it straight for the Post. Who the heck really knows until the time but......thought I would spell out the rules since you asked......I absolutely know you know what a NTC is.......

Any idea what the difference between a Limited and a modified NTC is? I have gotten different answers off the web...

I would trade any of our older vets and UFA's....I'd like Matthais and Dorsett to stay.......wouldn't want to trade KB away either...I love stand up guys, he's just in the wrong slot, IMO Should be a 5 or 6.

I am ok trading, Higgins, Burrows(not going), Richardson, Hansen, Lack, Markstrom, maybe Kassian + (iffy)for the right pick

Probably Subban

Poster above says go after 2nds...he's probably right......Kassian + Subban = a 15th - 19th OA I think???

I got more questions than answers I am afraid

We're good, and I never took what you wrote as anything other than what you are noting here. :)

G.

From what I have read the current draft lists are kind of like this (Simplified version)

1 OA and 2 OA generational players

3 OA to 10 OA first line top players

11 OA to 20 OA Strong players..................I am sure these numbers can be divided up more

21 to 49 still above average

50 to 90 Average

91 on crap shoot as usual

As someone said earlier, it is still early...and one want to clarify more......Some of your guys really know your prospects

This isn't a CDC proposal section draft of "throw extra players at a wall and see if anything sticks". Make no mistake, the cost of moving up in the 1st round of the 2015 draft will be painful. Trying to get into the Top 7 or so will be excruciating in it's cost.

Throwing in expendable extra pieces along with a bottom 10 pick in an effort to move into the top ten will get the Canucks nowhere fast.

Probably. But would a package including Higgins, Lack, and Corrado work instead?

I don't think so. Oilers need a piece that would help them win now.

If they get McJesus/Eichel then I expect they make a move for a solid defenseman if they're smart.

They will have too much young talent up front.

Oilers probably really regret not drafting Murray.
