[Trade] EDM trades David Perron to PIT for 1st round pick

Recommended Posts

Good trade for both teams, obviously Edmonton is going for the tank but they got a 1st rounder in the 18-27 area in a deep draft. Penguins get a top 6 winger to help their depth, at one point they had so many injuries Crosby had Downie and a AHLer on his wings.

Just to clarify

Perron got a 1st round pick.

Think on that everyone when the trade talks start heating up over the next 60 days and people are still claiming we have worthless players in regards to trade value.

Seriously shocked Edm got that value for Perron.

Wow the penguins are looking good. But remember a few seasons back when penguins made all sorts of trade deadline deals and everyone was saying that we might aswell give them the cup now? I don't remember who they got

I believe Jarome Iginla, Jussi Jokinen, Douglas Murray and Brendan Morrow.

Oilers need some nhl bodies more then anyone right now

Hall-rnh-eberle

Pouliot-Roy-yakupov

Fraser-draistl-purcell

Hendricks-Gordon-pitlick

That is God awful, trading hall or eberle has never looked more needed and who knows what you would get for yakupov but 1 of them has to go

That sick scoring depth on the Pens though.

Sid gets another scorer to work with, and the Oil get size and a good asset. As long as Yak holds up as the 2nd line's L.W. the deal looks alright IMO b/c the Oil actually have enough winger scoring to offset this move, although in the short term the Pens get the best asset to fill their need.

Edmonton doesn't need another 1st rounder lol. They need NHL quality and experience. They needed to add some key veterans to their roster to compliment their youth.

Perron unfortunately was the easiest and likely only one of the younger players Edmonton was willing to trade from their " core ". Turning Perron into a 1st may prove a good move if the Oilers can turn that pick into a better NHL option, but again the team doesn't need more picks, they need to build an NHL roster for the younger players to come up in.

Good move for Pittsburgh.

If they are having a firesale can the Canucks pry Justin Schultz out of EDM? We need a puck moving D man. I'm sure he is kicking himself that he didn't stay in Anaheim. His parents are huge Canuck fans and even though he has had a rough start to his career his future is very bright.... better than any of our current defensive prospects.
