Sedintwinpowersactivate
Canucks drafted Kirill Koltsov in 2002 in the second round. He is currently leading the KHL defensemen in scoring. At age 31 what is the chances of bringing him over to play in Vancouver? The Russian Ruble has dropped in value by half. Vancouver could use help on the blue line. VanGnome
I don't get this sense of entitlement that fans have when drafting Russian players. Especially those not drafted in the first round. It's almost like you expect that they wouldn't want to play anywhere else other than the NHL. I don't think that there are Russian fans of the KHL similarly crying over the fact that their KHL club drafted Connor McDavid, yet are virtually guaranteed to never see him play for their team. Perspective, it matters.
Patrick Kane
Kevin Connauton would be the leading Canuck defenseman in points (tie with Edler but in less games)

BanTSN
Tell that to the Stars they waived him. Didn't cdc write him off as a bust though? I wonder if there were underlying numbers that told us that he might not have been busting after all. Can somebody please to a quick advunced stats analisus? Connauton was in his 3rd season in the AHL when he was traded, not yet having played his first NHL game. I'm not aware of possession statistics being available for the AHL. Does anybody know if they're available anywhere?

Lancaster
IIRC, Koltsov and the Canucks organization had some type of agreement (probably verbal) that he will get his shot in the NHL, thus he spent parts of 2 seasons with the Manitoba Moose. Even after producing, the Canucks decided to go another direction, thus he decided to return back to Russia. Not saying he would have become like Duncan Keith (who he was drafted ahead of) or become some offensive dynamo like Mike Green... but he could have been someone like an Ehrhoff or even like a MA Bergeron.
