Horvat is becoming a ROCK in the corners

*Buzzsaw*

I know he wasn't the focus of the play tonight, and he didn't get any points, but I still get a smile everytime I see Bo Horvat go into the corner or along the boards.

Every game he gets a little better at taking the puck away, every game he gets a little better at coming off the boards and making a play.

The guy is a rock... even when the opposing player is bigger than him, he will still make it a contest and at least half the time he gets control.

I especially loved it this game when one of the bigger Islanders tried to push him around intimidate him, and he gave it back 150%, in fact fought him to a draw in the wrestling match, got control of the puck, made a play and then was in position in front of the net for a pass.

I have yet to see one single veteran 4th line tough guy get anywhere trying to physically manhandle him. He just shrugs it off... he's not chippy like Dorsett, but anybody who runs into him knows immediately how strong he is... and they just don't push it.

This kid is 100% upside for me... He's gonna be one of my favourites for a LONG time. ;)

Same here! Really enjoying how he plays so far.

He still looks fairly tentative out there, like he doesn't want to make any mistakes. Doing well, but looking forward to when he starts asserting himself more.

I think you nailed that. He'll gain confidence for sure as he matures more and gets comfortable in the big show. Not too shabby at all for a 19 year old!

Can't agree more. Read OPs post and couldn't think of one example from the game tonight. Blending in is what he's doing and I guess that's fine.

I thought he had a strong game - and he was the only guy who won the majority of his draws. Like you say, he is exceptional along the boards and in the hard areas for a teenager - I've also been quite impressed with his skating.

The thing about Horvat though - he may be strong now, but he's going to continue to get stronger for the next half decade.

He really does have the potential to be a giant in the NHL.

he is a mature player for his age

well rounded game

let's pick up this thread in 1 year when bo had played 100 games

then we will see what he is really going to be like

he is still getting his feet on the ground

the learning curve right now is enormous

but he does not get shaken easily

and his teammates appear to really like him

you can see how much they like lack by the pranks they pull on him

maybe in a year they'll be doing the same to bo

Love this kid. Can't stand the fans that expect him to be a top goal scorer. This guy isn't making many mistakes and at the same time he makes some really good plays with his sheltered minutes. Just give him time and watch what happens.
