Neutral
Renaud Lavoie@renlavoietvaFollow Unconditional waivers for HENRIK TOMMERNES VAN he has decent numbers in Utica this year. Does he want to go back to europe to play? Too bad for a 7th round pick he has progressed pretty well for us. We wont have his rights because we are basically terminated his contract with us correct? stats* 2008-09 Frolunda HC SEL 11 0 0 0 0 0 -- -- -- -- -- 2009-10 Frolunda HC SEL 27 0 3 3 10 5 7 0 1 1 2 2009-10 Boras HC Swe-1 23 5 9 14 43 8 2010-11 Frolunda HC SEL 47 3 17 20 24 -17 -- -- -- -- -- 2011-12 Frolunda HC SEL 44 5 9 14 36 11 2012-13 Frolunda HC SEL 54 5 11 16 28 -9 6 1 4 5 6 2013-14 Utica Comets AHL 54 4 14 18 14 -12 -- -- -- -- -- 2014-15 Utica Comets AHL 23 3 8 11 8 -
theminister
Yup. He wants to go back to Europe probably. We might even have another body coming in.
Ossi Vaananen
Yes like 5 or 6 on the call ups for D even though we're shallow at this position. When it's unconditional it's usually a mutual termination. I think he was well liked in Utica but a guys gotta earn.

Its too bad he was having a solid pts season in utica. I cant say i can vouch for his on ice play. Utica Hockey would probably be the best person to ask for that info. If he has any RFA status left or anything like that we'd still retain his rights. Also, I don't know what's with Lavoie and the all caps, maybe someone hacked his account? Wishful thinking I know, Tommernes has been good on the farm but not enough to really warrant a call up or think he'll be in the NHL any time soon. VanGnome
If my count is correct, terminating Tommernes' contract leaves us with 49 contract spots filled, could be just freeing up space to take on bodies in a trade leading up to or on the trade deadline, but thats almost 2 months away. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't CHL players' contract slide? Cause I think Cassels, Virtanen, McCann, Cederholm, McEneny their contracts are not included into the 50 limit since they are in the CHL. So even if we signed him, his contract shouldn't count to our limit until he turns pro
Warhippy
Well glad someone addressed the obvious contract numer questions. We are heading into NCAA free agency signing season soon here aren't we? And still have a few of our last couple of seasons draft picks to sign as well. 47 allows us to slide a few into the spot while still having the space to make a trade or two. Shame I liked how Tommy was doing. Hope he can put it together soon

HC20.0
Kinda disappointed. For a 7th round pick, he turned into a stud. Guess he wants to go home. Good luck Henrik!

elvis15
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't CHL players' contract slide? Cause I think Cassels, Virtanen, McCann, Cederholm, McEneny their contracts are not included into the 50 limit since they are in the CHL. So even if we signed him, his contract shouldn't count to our limit until he turns pro The rule is that players of a certain age limit playing outside of the NHL (I used to believe it was all North American pro leagues but if you're under age and in the AHL your contract can still slide as well, see Brandon Pirri for example) then your contract can slide. So you're correct that CHL players' contracts would slide for he players you've mentioned (pretty sure there can't be an age conflict for overagers like McEneny). Here's the wording from a cached CapGeek page: How does an entry-level contract slide? If a player aged 18 or 19 signs an entry-level contract with a club (with his age calculated on Sept. 15 of the year he signed the contract) but does not play in at least 10 NHL games — regular season or playoffs — the contract will "slide" or be extended one year. The extension does not apply if the player turns 20 between Sept. 16 and Dec. 31 in the year he signed the contract. Depending on the contract's structure, the player's cap hit can be affected either by an increase or a decrease. Players who sign at age 18 can have their contract extended (or "slide") two seasons. While this is fairly straightforward for players returned to junior, it often leads to confusion for fans when 18- and 19-year-olds are assigned to a minor-league club. These situations are no different: the contract still slides, just as examples for Tomas Tatar and Niclas Bergfors illustrate. CBA reference: Section 9.1 (d) (P. 23-24) More than 9 games in the NHL in a given year will negate the slide in any case of course. While Subban is a possibility I guess since he'll have to be signed at some point, I wonder if it's not related to either a UFA signing (pro or player coming out of college) or even one of our prospects like Hutton or McNally going pro. It could also be in preparation for a trade of some sort but I don't necessarily see us trading away one bigger contract to get back a number of smaller ones. I guess it could just be Tommernes wanting to leave, but we'll see if there's a corresponding move in the next little while.
