Mackcanuck
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 3h3 hours ago McGrattan (CAL) is on waivers today. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/brian-mcgrattan-waivers-calgary-flames/ The Calgary Flames just got a little less truculent. The Flames placed six-foot-four, 235-pound tough guy Brian McGrattan on waivers Friday. A 33-year-old native of Hamilton, Ont., McGrattan got into the Calgary lineup on just eight occasions this season and failed to register a point. He has four penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating. McGrattan’s two-year, $1.5-million contract with the club will expire on July 1. In 317 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators and the Flames, the winger has 10 goals, 17 assists and 609 penalty minutes. John Scott will be getting lonely! Master Mind
Good. He doesn't belong in the NHL, at least not after ending Alberts' career.

Or maybe we're seeing an era like the 50's when superstars were tough enough to fight their own battles?

Ya... because guys like Dorsett or Chris Neil can't handle those guys physically.. Give your head a shake man. Punks get away with more when there are goons, because the goons only fight other goons. It is up to the middleweights and tougher guys who are actually on t he ice to respond to dirty plays. If a goon tries to go lumber after a punk, they will skate away or turtle. William_Clarkson
Hope to see John Scott go next. End of an era. Really sad. Hope all the people liking this enjoy watching the Marchands and Rousells of the league take over. There's still guys like Clifford, Dorsett, etc. who can fight, but can actually play. Plus, there will also be heavy weights, some even on top lines like Lucic and Weber that can fight. Hell, for guys like Marchand a lot of top line players could deal with him if he ever tried to pull stuff like he did in the 11' finals. You think Marchand would be punching a guy like Perry in the face or Perry would let him do that to another player on the ice?
