Not a huge amount of new information but it looks like TL and JB are eager to get us towards competing for the SCF. TLDR; -Been asking around for a PP defenceman, everyone wants a 1st rounder + roster player. Benning says cost is too high and he believes in Edler. -Utica will stay in east coast - easier for development and travel. -First round pick will be BPA, will lean towards a defencemen if skills are similar, both say it would be nice to take a defenceman, thinks we need more but believes in Corrado/Subban/Tryamkin. -They think Kass will mature soon and be that top 6 guy, they will be patient with him. Will think about a trade for him if there is a good offer, stressed what is best for the organisation. -They feel the pressure from the fanbase and want to be in the top 8 of the NHL. I bet there are teams that are negotiating with him about Zack. Also said he wants to improve his D prospects. He isn't shooting the rumours down. Even the biggest Kassian lover can see that. Also Trevor saying that he tells Kassian not to get caught up in playing in The top 6, bottom 6 and the PP. That confirms that they have had that discussion. I am an amateur behavioural specialist, I have studied this clip and have determined that Zack is disgruntled to a certain degree and is for sale to a certain degree. Since arriving in Van, Vey has been non-existent in terms of production in most of the games he has played. If, on the one hand, you are going to continue to tell a player like Kassian that he has to earn his chance on the top six. Then the same has to apply to every player on the team including Vey. Realistically Kassian has produced more this year than Vey and is much more defensively sound. But what do I know, I just watch the games... Using this year to have a solid evaluation period and not getting swept up in the "do something now" fever. It's such a tough business and making the wrong moves can set a team back years, as we are seeing from MG's era. Not that I am hating on Gillis, he did make some solid deals but near the end his perspective of the team's needs seemed to become tunnel visioned. I would consider this year a success making the playoffs, anything else is gravy. They know what we need, they just don't want to sell the farm to get it. Onwards and upwards with this is duo!!! Anybody who has played sports at some capacity would agree with you there. I would trade Vey too except that he has no value whereas Kassian does. To be fair, that was a fringe top 4 defenseman who took a paycut to come home but earned himself an NTC from our former GM to dictate where he would go.
