DeNiro
I'm preparing myself for disappointment and Benning will draft meat and potatoes defenceman Brandon Carlo. Funny because his game reminds me alot of Seabrooks. I'll take meat and potatoes.
Sedintwinpowersactivate
I heard an interview with Scotty Bowman on 1040 and he said that Yzerman was more offensively driven early in his career and discovered that doing the little details and defensive assignments can lead to team success. Toews is a prime example of another player that gives up plenty of offensive stats in the NHL to do the little things that lead to team success. I am arguing that you don't need to draft a defensive gem from the CHL, that it's better to get an offensive star that is willing to learn the defensive details that lead to team success. Teams that have these players win cups!
DeNiro
And that's where hard work comes in. Players who are willing to work hard and learn will adapt their game to help the team win.
BanTSN
Spoken like someone who has never played any sport. Injuries are not excuses they are handicaps and therefore affect outcomes. If you really think that was clever, I'm afraid you haven't a clue. Any injury, especially in a sport like hockey affects, timing and confidence, lower body can affect balance and ability to turn sharply or can affect speed. If you think these are irrelevant and don't affect your game, as I said you have never played the sport. If he played with a broken wrist or even a broken bone in his wrist of course it would affect his game, his stick handling and his shooting. I'm speaking for those who have won while playing through an injury, and there have been plenty. Cole Cassels, for starters. So give me a break with this small violin crap. Anyway, there was the rest of the post to address, and it was all along the same lines. The team with the most size, speed, strength and skill will usually win. It appears that the east is still lagging behind, but Tyler Johnson was still a good pickup considering he was undrafted. All I am suggesting is that the direction towards small softish players doesn't exist, and there has always been one type of player who wins cups. The Canucks should rebuild with this type of player, and I think Benning has been attempting to do that so far. That being said, there is still the option to go one-dimensional selfish soft BPA, get him to light it up early and then trade him for more useable assets down the road. He did this with Kessel. There are multiple paths to the cup.

There are multiple paths to the cup. Why can you not understand he was able to play through his injury because it was not as significant as Johnson's. It doesn't matter how big you are, a wrist problem doesn't happen to you because "you are small." You have been called out again and again because you disingenuously attributed the fact they got injured because they are small, which is a steaming pile of BS. A wrist injury has nothing to do with size. If you are slashed hard in the wrist, you will get injured no matter how big you are, period. Bishop is 6 foot 7, was he too small to avoid injury? And you still side-stepped the fact Chicago was still a smaller team than Tampa and ended up winning. All you did was cherry pick two smaller skilled guys and blame them for why they lost. Kane and Shaw had just as many points as their bigger guys and an undersized rookie in Teravainen was their leading scorer with 4 points. Without Johnson and Kucherov, they would have never won against Detroit and NY. Where were the big guys in Kreider and Hayes in the last 3 games of that series? They didn't register a point combined and Rick Nash only showed up for 1 game in that stretch and we all know his pathetic playoff reputation. Ossi Vaananen
I've pumped this guy a few times already, and I'll stick to my lock in of Kylington/Eriksson Ek/Chabot/Boeser, but Roslovic deserves some attention. http://canucksarmy.com/2015/6/21/nation-network-prospect-profiles-21-jack-roslovic They have him at 21. Statistically he looks really good, putting up big points in the USDP program, USHL aswell as a great U20 tournament with 11 points in 7 games. I don't really care about Johnson's injury as much as you guys do though. The point was not to whine about injuries. The point was acheived by merely looking at the player types who had success against the Hawks in these playoffs. It was the Ducks who did that, and the Kings before. In any event, the Canucks are far from emulating any of these teams. Hopefully Benning has a good plan for the rebuild so we end up with winners instead of whiners. Sean Monahan
Which one is the chick? Are you implying that Andersson looks like a chick or that Nylander looks masculine? Cause if it's the latter you're wrong.
Rush17
Does anyone know what the coverage will be via radio or online via apps or streaming? I am working when day 1 goes live. I want to take a break around our selection but curious what medium I can tune in. I am assuming team1040/cfax1070 should have it. But does anyone know for sure? curious if theres a tsn live stream too..

WHL rocks
I think NHL on the Fly does the full 2nd round coverage, as the first round is generally covered by TSN. If not than generally NHL.com does free online streaming for the second part of the draft. That is what I did last year. SN got the rights for the draft in the mega deal that started last year. TSN will comer it but to watch the actual draft you need to be on SN just like the Mcdavid sweepstakes.

MoneypuckOverlord
Id be so pissed if we take another all around player, for crying out loud, if Gaunce, McCann, Horvat is not enough, I will offically have lost hope in JIm Benning. Potential top line players or a potential top 2 dman, who can control the play. prefeably, Jeremy Roy, or try to hit a home run with Kylington. Vince Dunn is also not bad, however, based on overall rankings, 23 might be a little high, that said, he does play an offensive puck possession type of style, so that's a plus also. Total pass on "all around" dmans. Drafting an "all around" dman is equal drafting a Jared McCann or a Brenden Gaunce but a dman. I'd be chocked if we made a safe pick, at 23. Colin White 1st we recently drafted a similar player to him, in McCann, and you can even say Bo Horvat..... He's just a lighter version of Bo Horvat, maybe more speed, but nothing else... I'm not sure what is the deal of loading up the team with a bunch of second line players. Do something like that, we will never win a stanley cup. We will be a "good" team for years to come, but never a contender due to lack of offensive fire power.
