What type of eyeglass lenses should I upgrade to?

I recently ordered my glasses from clearly contacts and got the free lense option, which is the 1.59 index polycarbonate.

I've worn them for about a week straight and they feel a bit heavy? This is my first time wearing glasses.

My prescription

Right and Left

Sphere: -2.00

Cyl: +0.50

Axis: 90

Pd: 63.0

Should I upgrade my lenses to the 1.61 high index aspheric or the 1.67 index or is that overkill?

I am going tomorrow so I need your input as soon as possible!

Thank you.

I feel that I'm used to them already and the frame is pretty lightweight. Its just at the end of the day it feels heavy and it sorta weights down on my nose making it fall a little. I think I'll just dish out the extra $50 for the 1.61 index and see if there's any noticeable improvement in comfort.

Find out what the most expensive ones are. Then get one level below that. Usually the best bang for buck.

Other thing is that if you are going to wear glasses a lot get a pair of prescription sunglasses. They are by far my favorites. Awesome for driving, golfing, or just being outdoors in general on a sunny day.

Thanks. That's what I did. Got the 1.61 index, just waiting for them to arrive now :) I'll hold off on the sunglasses until summer.

That's a pretty light prescription. You don't really need 1.67 index.

-2.00

+.5

is nothing. You can even function without glasses.

When you get to +3, +4, +5 that is when you need the 1.67 index.

I've been without glasses my whole life, and been able to function, but having glasses has "opened my eyes". I feel reborn lol.

His prescription is very similar to mine and without glasses, about 3 feet away is blurry enough that I can't read without squinting and no way I can drive properly.

I felt the exact same way 20 years ago when I first got glasses.

I have to second this. My prescription is -1.75 and there's no way I could drive without my contacts/glasses. I would never be able to read any of the signs. I used to frequently go without them around the house but if anyone ever asked me what something small was from across the room I would never have any idea. Watching the TV without them on is a pain too. I have to sit annoyingly close to have any chance to be able to make out any writing on the screen.
