Van - Pittsburgh (Proposal)

Recommended Posts

Vrbata, who is 33, and has a few good years left in him, is not worth a 1st rounder and arguably there best d prospect after Griffen Reinhart in Pulock.

The Islanders don't have a 1st rounder for 2015, and surely don't want to have 2 consecutive no 1st rounders without having to get one from a team.

This. I don't need to add anything more. The Isles have no need for this kind of trade. They have enough forwards already.

I was confused for a second. Thought this was a Pittsburgh post. Oh well.

I don't see anything this dramatic, but I do see something from Pittsburgh regarding a free agent we could use.

Sign Paul Martin and drop Luca Sbisa.

I don't see anything out of Sbisa that leads me to believe he's going to become much in any category within the foreseeable future. At 33, Martin offers a short term solution to a defensive problem. I think D men like Tryamkin and Pedan will be ready for the NHL in 4 years. A 3 yr contract to a defensive specialist like Martin is, potentially a great situation that brings stability in the defensive zone. I know Martin is not the household name everyone wants to bring to the Canucks, but he does make sense in a now situation, while at the same time providing a bridge for the future.
