Restarting the X-Files (Tv show)

Fox Mulder

Recommended Posts

I just read on Yahoo that Fox is trying to reboot the X-Files and have David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson resume their roles as Mulder and Scully.

This was my favorite tv show growing up and if this is true it would make my life whole again.

Anybody else as excited as I am about this?

The truth is out there.

i was pretty young back when the original series was on and loved it, loved it, loved it. read the cheesy novel and comic spin offs, had the t-shirts, the plastic mulder fbi badge, the expensive, over-sized VHS sets .EVERYTHING i could buy that was branded X Files, i'd buy it

but how could anyone NOT be cynical about this? can someone name me one show that Fox has produced in the last ten years that wasn't totally lame, tame, and family friendly drama LOADED with commercials, product placements, inoffensive writing, etc.?

i don't know, i just like (or want) to think that audiences are far more sophisticated than Fox is now. AMC may not push boundaries, but at least it makes up for it with some solid content. one episode of Game of Thrones has more 'challenging' or offensive content than an entire fall lineup from Fox -- and even my mom and all her water cooler, middle aged co-workers watch GoT. HBO, now at its most graphic, is literally mainstream, and its headline show is all about graphic incest, decapitations, violence, and 'complicated' plot lines -- this is the exact opposite of everything on Fox

keep in mind Fox is also trying to reboot Prison Break and 24. we all know how this will go: everyone will jump on the X-Files bandwagon for a season or two, the novelty will wear off, the show will fizzle out while Fox milks it for their last pennies while it tries to capitalize on nostalgia and think of new court or FBI dramas to push

this is a desperate move from a desperate network

She still looks quite good even now, at 46. This is from October:

Been watching a BBC crime drama set in northern Ireland called The Fall , gillian stars in it . Well worth checking out.

Have seen her in a few british shows , thought she might have moved there.

I'm pretty sure that if they do start up the x-files again it will be just like it was before. Dressed up and modernized for sure but at heart it will still be the same show.

I see no reason why it would be a lame, tame, family friendly drama.

Be careful.... anything you say about GoT can only be reductive.

Regarding Fox, FX is part of Fox and they do have some good shows. A lot of people here like American Horror Story which I think is only alright. The Americans, starring Keri Russell, is a great show. It's up there with the AMC and HBO heavy hitters.

I'm a contrarian here. I have no interest in The X-Files. They should've ended that show with a definite ending.
