(proposal) WPG-VAN NYR-VAN

2 proposals.

If we are trading Zack Kassian away, we need to do it now before his stock decreases even more than it is. I loved Kassian but this year, he has been playing uninterested, lazy hockey and I think he needs a new change of scenery.

When I see the Winnipeg Jets, I see a playoff team. That's because they are good in size, fast, and young. There core is not only young, but with successful drafting, they have one of the best draft prospects in the whole entire NHL. A player I think we can actually try to pry away from them is Mark Scheifele. He has good size, fast, and a really good player that is still 21 years old and putting up decent 2nd line numbers. I loved watching him during his junior years and was one of the prospects I loved watching back in the 2011 draft.

I'd give up:

Gaunce, Kassian, 2015 2nd round, and 2016 5th for

WPG: Mark Scheifele

Why do WPG do this:

They get a decent center prospect who is defensively sound and decent offensively, a young PWF that needs a new change of scenery that might fit well under Paul Maurice's style. He will also fit well with the new core and could anchor their 2nd line in the future. One thing WPG is good at is developing young players and I think Kassian could do well for them. We give them a 2015 2nd rounder and 2016 7th for the finishing touches.

Mark Scheifele is a great player, but he isn't worth half of our prospects. I think he could be a key player in our future for the next core. He's a good player with good defensive abilities but always had issues if I remember correctly with his positioning and "Virtanen" like IQ (nothing against Virtanen :P ). They also have a few players that they can replace Scheifele with like Nic Petan, and potentially Alex Burmistrov.

Second trade: Simple trade.

NYR: Chris Higgins

VAN: 2015 2ND and 3rd round picks.

Higgins could help there secondary scoring on the third line. Defensively sound, 35-40 point scorer if matched up with quality line mates. Helps them push for a playoff run.

Winnipeg won't do that. They have a great opportunity to make the playoffs for the first time, so there is no point in them trying to get more players to develop for a player that is already a solid NHL starter. And since they have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL they don't need any more young guys and draft picks. Scheifele is probably going to be their first line Center in the next 3 years.

Higgins won't bring back that much. Maybe only 3rd rounder considering its a deep draft.

So Winnipeg looks like a playoff team, but they'd trade a top center because they have a prospect (Petan) and a center over in the KHL (Burmistrov) that can replace him? I don't think so.

I know they have Perreault who's been getting similar usage this year, but Scheifele leads the team in even strength time per game. He plays a pretty significant role for them, takes the 2nd most faceoffs behind Little and is the secondary option behind their primary PK and PP centers. They won't disrupt their current run to the playoffs by moving a key piece like him.

EDIT: And apparently Perreault is injured.

#NHLJets HC Paul Maurice says F Mathieu Perreault is going to IR and Jacob Trouba will be activated from IR

Or how about I laugh at your idiotic, baseless comment and ignore?

Why the hostility? He gave you his opinion. It's not like he went out to offend you so why offend him?

Winnipeg's unlikely to trade Scheifele for scraps, which is essentially what we're offering in your proposal. They're most likely going to want at least a 1st round pick, a prospect like Virtanen or Horvat, and/or a a roster player like Bonino. The price is going to be a lot higher than you make it out to be because Winnipeg needs Scheifele at this time.

More than likely, we'd have to start as a 1st round pick and Horvat and move UP from there. Rememner, we're asking them to trade their player they don't want to give up and not the other way around. ;)

For this reason, Winnipeg might not laugh at your face, but they would be laughing after saying no and hanging up..

Proposal is pretty decent in value wise, however I just don't think WPG will give Mark Scheifele away.

A Scheifele and Petan as there future 1st and 2nd line centers would look great for WPG seeing as that Burmistrov looks like he might actually just stay in the KHL as he is loving it there. And then Little would either be traded or regress to a Mike Richards type player and be used on the 3rd/4th line.
