Mackcanuck
Written by Tyler Seguin "Now that it’s all completely in the past, I can give you my honest answer. Do I think the Bruins gave up on me too early? Yes, I 100 percent believe that." "I admit that there were probably some decisions I could have made better, but I also highly doubt that anyone would endorse every choice they made in their late teens. It’s part of growing up. I was living on my own for the first time and was the only single guy on the team. On off-nights, when the other guys would go home to their wives and families, I would go out. But none of my behavior was ever malicious, and it certainly didn’t affect my play on the ice. The suggestion that it did always bothered me because I fulfilled every role that the Bruins asked of me, whether it was leading the team in scoring as a center or serving as a winger on the third line. In the aftermath of getting traded, I was asked by a lot of media for a response. For the most part, I kept my mouth shut. I was certainly frustrated at being written off as a lost cause at the age of 20, but there’s just not much good that comes from an athlete expressing themselves to the media while they’re angry. I decided to let my play on the ice with Dallas speak for itself." read more here http://www.theplayerstribune.com/tyler-seguin-moving-on/
TOMapleLaughs
The trade was STS. Bruins probably shouldn't have gotten him in the first place, and handed him away like he was nothing to an southern team that needed help. Kinda like the Thornton trade helped a fading SJ team immediately. I'd love it if this team could just dish out hof-type players like candy while still managing to win cups along the way. Rick Grimes
The only worry I've ever had with Seguin is the rumours about him having a degenerative hip issue(I still have no idea if there is any truth to this) Seguin & Benn & The efforts of their GM have made Dallas into a team worth watching, though I still wonder how deadly Neal - Seguin - Benn could have been. As a powerplay unit it would've been $$$$. But I think the logical move would be to split them up. Benn - Seguin - _____ Neal - Spezza - Hemsky Nasty. Benn - Seguin - _____ Neal - Spezza - Hemsky Nasty. JN is a heck of a GM got Cole, Spezza, Hemsky, Seguin, Thomas, Counation, Eakin for almost nothing. I mean look at how many steals they got through trades (they are ripping everyone off haha) http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_team/Dallas_Stars/

YEGCanuck
Sequin has out-performed Taylor Hall who was picked before him. Their experience just goes to prove the value of quality coaching, player development and team culture are critical in the success of a professional hockey organization. The Magician
Bruins got killed in that trade. They’re lucky Reilly Smith has turned out well or else it would have been a complete slaughter. Loui Eriksson’s injury prone and getting older now. Not to mention Benn-Seguin is probably the most deadly combo on a line in the NHL.
The Analyst
Wasn't it Jim Benning who was so hard on Seguin?
Phil_314
Looks like the move was for perceived lack of work ethic and because "he didn't fit with the Bruins style". How much else was going on (crazy partying or not) I don't think we'll know for sure but I think that both work ethic problems and going to party as a single guy is pretty much what most people would have gone through during their youth? Either way, the Bruins pretty much shot themselves in the foot by letting someone that their scouts acknowledged was talented go for a declining asset in Eriksson. Why they didn't keep him to replace Horton (ref. the video posted above) and let him mature as he gets older is beyond me, but Chiarelli's done better. TheXFactor
TBH I don't think Seguin's play style fit the Bruins at all. I'm about 90% confident he'd be nowhere near as good as he is now if he stayed with them. Seguin would fit in better with teams like Pittsburgh, Tampa, and of course Dallas. Given his perspective on how everyone on the B's had wives/girlfriends, I suppose I can understand why he'd be going out and partying (as if it wasn't normal for someone his age). Also, LOL at him being called undersized. Your not undersized unless your coach tells you that you can't play hockey because your not big enough. Neversummer
You are forgiven for your youthful ways. But still, with the Dallas stacked the way it is, how could the Stars not near the top of the rankings and at 11th in the West? You started the season with some cocky video of you and Benn, Dallas was picked to be a team to be reckoned with ... come back and say something when your team makes it into the playoffs and go a couple of rounds. They have no problems scoring goals. They just can't keep the puckers out of their own net.
