iinatcc
Alex Ovechkin’s heartwarming reason for wanting NHL All-Star Game car The surprise is a heartwarming one: Honda is giving Ovechkin a 2015 Accord, and Ovechkin will do what he intended to do since he arrived in Columbus with a car on his mind: Donate it to Ice Dogs, a Northern Virginia hockey program for special needs youth players. .... Ovechkin’s agent David Abrutyn said the Capitals star always intended to donate any car he received during All-Star Weekend to charity, and decided that Ice Dogs should be the beneficiary because of his time with Ann Schaab. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/alex-ovechkin-s-heartwarming-reason-for-wanting-nhl-all-star-game-car-030904361.html Class act I say

poetica
You didn't include the best part of the story: The surprise is a heartwarming one: Honda is giving Ovechkin a 2015 Accord, and Ovechkin will do what he intended to do since he arrived in Columbus with a car on his mind: Donate it to Ice Dogs, a Northern Virginia hockey program for special needs youth players. Good for Honda. Sounds like a great program.

Dazzle
I'm not quite sure how the car helps that organization. Do you know what I mean? Great gesture but... they're two unrelated things.
avelanch
I'm not quite sure how the car helps that organization. Do you know what I mean? Great gesture but... they're two unrelated things. well they could sell or auction off the car, or use it to help the kids get to the games. there are plenty of ways it can help their org. apollo
I'm not quite sure how the car helps that organization. Do you know what I mean? Great gesture but... they're two unrelated things. I'm thinking maybe pick up the kids and drop them off The parents of special needs children already have so much to deal with. I'd assume this would help them. Worst case scenario they can sell the car for what... Maybe 30,000?
iinatcc
I'm not quite sure how the car helps that organization. Do you know what I mean? Great gesture but... they're two unrelated things. One more car given to them is one less car they need to buy in the future. I am sure there's a lot things that can help with a new car. Brick Tamland
Good recovery after being drunk and acting like an idiot. If he wanted them to have a car, he could have bought everyone there one for one games salary. He acted like a douche.

Stupid jerk made a girls life and how dare he donate a car to her team! Damn this Russian drunk bastard, why can't he be a good Canadian kid like Cindy and fake an injury to rest for a week when the league calls upon him! Edit : if you actually watched the event, u know everyone was laughing and enjoying it. He gave everyone something extra to talk about. Brick Tamland
Believe what you like. Ovie is one of the most selfish players in the league. It was a great spin by his PR team. He was acting like a douche.

Burnsey
When I first heard about this, I couldn't work out why he was doing it. I mean what is the point - but it sounded like (on the little article snippet I first read) he was just donating the car to this 10-year old kid. That's why it didn't make sense to me, now that I know it's to an official organization too, well it just makes so much more sense haha. Love hearing these stories. Don't care who the player is, when you hear about these stars doing stuff like this, it's just great! Having a good time and being the life of a party doesn't make you a douche. Being a cynic makes you a douche. It does if you play professional sports apparently. I've heard a lot of stories about players partying when they are young (like Kane a few years ago) and people think it's the worst thing but if they weren't in the media no one would care about it. What young person doesn't go out for a few drinks and have fun? At the end of the day these players are people and what they do in the off-season/spare time really doesn't matter. I mean who cares, let them have a bit fun every now and then.

Ovechkin is a stand up dude. Just like 95% of the players in the league. Would be really nice to see Ovie win a Cup one day. Wouldn't be surprised if it was this year. The Caps are a dangerous team as they actually know how to play defense now thanks to Trotz.
