[Proposal] VAN-TOR-COL

Dan hamhuis and a 2nd for Morgan Reilly? No thanks. There's no proof that he'll turn into half the player hamhuis is now.

Rielly probably won't be anything like Hamhuis considering they play different styles.

Hamhuis is also 32 years old while Rielly put up 27 points last year as a 19/20 year old.

So if I break it down team by team:

Canucks

Give - Hamhuis, 2nd

Get - Rielly

Leafs

Give - Rielly, 1st

Get - O-Reilly, 2nd

Avs

Give -O'Reilly

Get - Hamhuis, 1st

I don't like the value for any of the teams involved tbh.

/shrugs

If we're going to make trades they have to be of some help now. Benning and Linden want to compete. Whether or not we have the team to do it is questionable, but this trade hurts us more than it helps. At least in the short term.

It hurts us more now but helps us a lot in the future. Just throwing out random pointless ideas.

lol I better not catch you saying elsewhere that Kassian will be the next Bertuzzi, Lucic, etc. Because there is even less proof of that.

Anyway Toronto wouldn't give up Reilly for ROR. Actually if anything I think Franson would be a great match for Colorado. Yes he's UFA, and with the money they save Colorado would have the cap to sign Franson. ROR is a year away from UFA for that reason Toronto would have to add a prospect or conditional pick to compensate

Franson

Conditional 1st2016 (if Franson walk, if re-signed 2nd or 3rd)

vs

ROR

From an Avs fan standpoint how does Edler for ROR straight up sound?

I'd do it. I doubt Edler would waive and it sounds like Linden wants to keep him anyways so it's most likely not going to happen.

I know people here want ROR but who would you even play him with? I think you would all be thoroughly disappointed in his production if you stick him with Higgins and Burrows. He's not going to carry a line offensively on his own. I mean he'll still put up ~50 points but if you want the ROR of the last 3 seasons you have to give him at least one bonafide top 6 line mate.

In a heartbeat I'd trade Hamhuis and a 2nd for Morgan Rielly. Sure losing a 2nd pick sucks but canucks can recapture a 2nd pick for Richardson or a 3rd at minimum. Bo Horvat is taking Richardson's job next year in Vancouver. Plus you've freed up some money by shipping Hamhuis out. By the way Toronto wouldn't do that trade with us.

Lol I'd never say Kassian is the next Lucic, etc but I have argued against trading him on the basis that it's possible.

Despite what some posters have indicated, I don't see a problem with values.

I do see a couple of roadblocks:

1. As the OP points out it doesn't work cap-wise for Toronto-they'd have to make some other move to manage this.

2. It seems really unlikely that Hammer would waive his ntc to join the Avalanche. In the event he could be convinced to waive at all, I'd expect him to want a good situation to go to, like Garrison got to waive his ntc.
