Trade Proposal: Edmonton is Lacking in Goal...

Recommended Posts

Here's my proposition:

To Edmonton Oilers...
Eddie Lack, 2016 2nd Round Pick

To Vancouver Canucks...

2015 2nd Round Pick, 2015 3rd Round Pick (from Ottawa), Iiro Pakarinen (finishing depth forward), David Musil (young D)

italicized: either these two picks, or we could try to pry away their Penguins' first round pick. I'd rather have the two.

Why they would be willing to give up these assets:

The Edmonton Oilers are more concerned with getting their team ready and fixing their problems in any way possible, if that means giving up assets like picks that seem desirable to other teams.
Iiro Pakarinen is good, but they have their hands full with their situation in the NHL and he won't be getting much time up with the big club until they have their organizational needs in a place where they can afford to bring up another forward and test his mettle.

With their scouting staff currently occupied with the 2015 Draft and trying to convince Hersely to sign with them from the KHL, they could afford to lose one of their long-term projects in Musil to a team like us.

There's no indication that Lack would do any better in Edmonton than Scrivens has. Lack has a losing record in the NHL playing in front of a much better team than he would have in Edmonton. Lack isn't worth nearly what you're suggesting

Yeah, but Lack and a 2nd round pick in next year's draft (which is also going to be quite deep, by the way) may entice them into taking a somewhat lacklustre deal from us

Going on the premise that Lack is no better than Scrivens, why would they make any deal, let alone a lacklustre one?

A better team that couldn't score when he was in net though...
