VAN-WPG An end to trade rumors in Vancouver (Proposal)

Kaner

Recommended Posts

I dont know about you guys, but I'm fed up with out play lately. Especially at home. I agree with media and I think that the time to trade for a top 6 forward is now. Although I don't think this is the most realistic trade, since Benning hasn't been connected to WPG at all, (at least that's what we know of.)

To WPG: Zack Kassian, Chris Higgins, Jannik Hansen, 2016 1st

To VAN: Evander Kane, 2016 3rd

I think that even with Higgjns and Hansen having NTC, they would both swig if they were approached by JB. As you know, Hansen, has a house in WPG, and spends his time in the summer there every year, and Higgins would likely waive because 1. The jets are a young and upcoming team and are already a couple steps ahead of us in player development, which means that they'll likely be a playoff contender before us. 2. He might waive because his Danish buddy is going there too.

With Kassian and Higgy traded, we might lose some offense, but Evander has way more offensive skill than either of the two, and I think that we wouldn't really notice it. Also there is avoid chance that one of Shink, Virt, or Gaunce/Jensen makes the big club next year. So one of them would look nice with Bones and Kaner.

Sedin Sedin Vrbata

Kane Bonino Burrows

That's a pretty good top 6. EspecIally that 2nd line. It'll even look better when Virtanen makes the big club.

Sedin Sedin Vrbata

Kane Bonino Virtanen

What are your guys thoughts? I know that this exact trade probaly won't happen, but I think it's a good packages for us to make a trade with another team to get that legit top 6 winger.

Cheers

as of today feb 1st 2015

E. Kane: 22 points

for

J Hansen: 18 points

C. Higgins: 20 points

Z Kassian: 6 points

Plus a 1st

And I might add we actually increase our cap by just over a million dollars.

I agree, lets end the trade rumours.

I agree, Evander is not having the best year, but he will be better inthe long term.

Que?

Over the last of 3 ish season Kane has scored at an equal to or lower pace than Kassian for his ice and PP time. He averages almost 19 mins of ice time if I am reading this right which is almost 9 mins more a game than Kassian and has played more games than him.

He may indeed become better as time goes on but right now....I don't know why anyone keeps suggesting we trade for him.

Just food for thought

True, but he's one year younger than Kassain and I think he will be better by far in the long term. Plus maybe if he's traded to his hometown, he'll step it up a little

Not to be nitpicky about your choice of words in your statement, but I would expect Kane to put in a fair bit of effort if he were to be traded back to his hometown vs "he'll step it up A LITTLE", given the price we are paying to acquire him.

In the long run, it would seem beneficial to acquire someone of his "projected" calibre but as others have mentioned, he hasn't produced up to his paycheque "standard" if you will, in the last little bit.

I certainly don't want another Neely-esque situation either with Kassian blooming into what we WANTED him to be once he's moved on... Tough decisions all around...

This year he did have a bit of an injury set back but he's still producing at a 50 point season pace. He's also picked up his pace, 9 points in his last 11 games. I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes the season with 45+ points in 66 games. If he can stay healthy.

Only thing about him is we do have a player with a very similar skill set coming up through the pipes. Not saying having two of these types of players is bad but it might be nice to have kassian type skill set to compliment the team.

i agree

but why waste time trying to get kane

Because at least the Jets would have interest in moving him, unless they don't re-sign Frolik. They have young players coming up that can replace Kane on the third line (ie. Ehlers).

Whereas defensemen with Byfuglien's pedigree aren't often moved, unless the team is stupid; like Ottawa allowing Chara to walk in order to keep Redden.

The defenseman in Winnipeg that is believed to be the odd man out come the off-season is Bogosian, as Byfuglien and Trouba both are RHD, with Enstrom and Morrissey coming up to take over the other two LHD spots going forward.

we do not have another compliance buyout

to use on kane

once we become tired of his act

and his inability to produce close to what his contract would dictate

talk to jets fans.. they don't want him

then i understand him

wanting to offload kane on us

and get some valuable assets back in return

Kane is producing at a 50 point per game pace this season, he's 23 with a 5.25 cap hit. He's not a burden that Jets are looking to ship off. He's a big piece to there team, but if there was an offer that brings in a good return he is someone they may consider moving. As far a buying out a player like him, that is just a ridiculous comment. If Kane was put on the market, there would be 29 teams lined up to try and acquire him.

well you are exaggerating his production

and those who do want him are hoping they can get him to play to the potential

he has not shown for 2 years now

how do you explain the nose dive in his production

i cannot believe he is an asset in the dressing room either
