Canucks Dressing Room (Discussion)

Recently, I was able to take a tour of our Dressing Room at Rogers Arena. I found it was really nice, and just wanted to know what you guys think of it? Has anyone else been in here, and do you think it's one of the nicest in the league?

Cheers

We got our Bantam hockey team in to watch a practice a few years back. Canucks would not even let us on the same side of the ice as the dressing rooms! We were instructed not to engage the players in conversation in any way. OK, more than a few years ago.

When they did all the upgrades a big focus was on the dressing room and some state of the art technology in there (I recall them having circulation systems in the lockers to dry out equipment?).

Some pics here...glad you got to take a tour. :)

Thanks Deb! Yes they do have Circulation dryers in there to dry out equipment. Have to ever been?

No, unfortunately (or, fortunately). :)

Been to the Lions' dressing room and sat in Geroy's spot. But that's a dirty ol' football locker room and likely of no comparison to the Canucks' 5 Star Facility.

I have been down in the depths nearby (and recall seeing Glass doing his warm ups in the hall and Tanev when he was starting out). A friend hooked me up with Zamboni side tickets at ice level but we've never ventured down to the DR (I'd find it kind of creepy to do so, as female it's kind of off limits and "man space"). They now have extra security down there but it wasn't the case back in 2011.

Wow! That's so awesome! Did the we win when you got ice level seats?

Had them for a few games...won some, lost some but was great action down there. I took it all in and it was an incredible experience (seeing Lu's net before it was brought out, all the commentators running around down there, the tunnel that the officials pass through prior to coming onto the ice...actually thought it was a screening device of sorts, like a metal detector). Loved every second of it.

For one game, two Swedish guys covered in hockey badges/pins were down there...only one spoke English. As we conversed with them about their game vs ours, etc. we asked what they were doing here...turns out they were friends who were staying with Mikael Samuelsson at the time...they'd followed him from early on in his career in Sweden and he'd brought them out for a stay. Was a super fun experience watching/cheering with them.

That's amazing! Last year I was able to get ice level seats in section 119, right beside the net! It's such a neat experience. You could here the players talking out in the ice.

I have a friend that got to see it too. Brought back some pics.

Is it just me, or do these rooms feel more like office areas now.

I mean the term "locker room"... you don't see one locker in there anymore! You see office lighting and dressing areas more accommodated to the swarm of media bugs that come in after a game.

Wonder what the visitors locker room looks like at Madison Square Gardens. Now that must look like a real locker room from the past.

All things aside, I think we must have one of the most modern and nicely designed facilities in the league.

It's great you got to see it.

There's a video somewhere in here showing all the dressing room features. I don't know how to use the search bar though.

Interesting point you bring up about the term "locker room". Growing up playing hockey, we always referred to it as a "dressing room". I've always associated the term "locker room" with more American sports such as football and basketball. I think when people use "locker room" in a hockey context, it's either because of the American sports media, or because it's just a general sports term (especially in the context of team politics).

I had a tour of Rogers arena in 2012 and we basically got to go to the penalty box area but even though the entire rink was empty we weren't allowed on the other side but it didn't really matter cause I saw so many cool things that day and you basically get to see the dressing room in interviews anyways
