BanTSN
Everyone's getting excited about Jakob Chychrun playing 31 highly productive mins a game in the OHL as a 16yr old, but a player not getting quite as much hype is Sean Day, who just turned 17 on the 9th. Playing 27mins a game for the Steelheads, 6'-2" 226lb LD Sean Day had put up a very respectable 26pts in 42gp. Although not quite as quick or as powerful as Chychrun, Day, who has Canadian/Belgium dual citizenship, is VERY noticeable out there. He is considered a top prospect for the 2016 draft. Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
lets just get though the 2015 draft ok ? Why say that? He's like the fourth guy to have exceptional player status. There's a lot of hype for him.
Warhippy
Day is actually getting more hype than Chychrun. But I've been on the Chychrun bandwagon for a while. If ever there was a time to be bad and hope to draft that #1 D man Next season is it
Guest Dasein
Why say that? He's like the fourth guy to have exceptional player status. There's a lot of hype for him. He's also not at the level of dominance that the previous three who received that status showed. In other words, he's no Aaron Ekblad. Don't let the status fool you. He's still a very good prospect, but he's not in the same league as the other guys that were granted exceptional player status. But there's still a lot of hockey to be played until his draft - he could be a "late bloomer" as far as exceptional players go and rise to the level of those that came before him. Ghostsof1915
Maybe we should be looking at players like Tyler Benson in our own backyard?
BanTSN
Maybe we should be looking at players like Tyler Benson in our own backyard? Or Patrick Bajkov or Brett Howden. But none are quite as exceptional.
Go Faulk Yourself
Sean Day isn't really all that exceptional. He's a good prospect, but he's not an incredible one by any means. He has impressive skating, and great offensive ability but he lacks a lot of defensive awareness and the IQ isn't quite there even with the points he's put up. Still a full year and a half to improve from where he is right now, so he can absolutely prove me wrong, but I doubt he'll go near the top of his draft class. I think he's the first player with exeptional status to not be absolutely dominating his league at this point. Great prospect and I'd be thrilled to have him, but so far he's not looking like the next big thing. On a side note, do the WHL and QMJHL grant exceptional status as well? The O seems to be the only one doing it.
Plum
He can dominate the game but defensively sometimes he doesn't seem to read plays well, sometimes he's not putting in enough effort. I'm going to give him the rest of the season but it seems like he has a big flaw.
