J.I.A.H.N
You could make this a 3 way trade, don't see them to much any more. #1. Yakupov, Draisaitl, and 2015-2nd 2 struggling forwards, 2 top end players, and a goalie for Kassian, Tanev, and Lack #2. Yapukov, Higgins and Weber Pittsburgh trades for potential for Despres and 2015-2nd
Pears
Why wouldn't Pittsburgh just make that 2nd trade with Edmonton without involving us?
qwijibo
Edmonton gets DESTROYED in that trade. You seriuosly thing that's a fair trade??
J.I.A.H.N
Pears....Pittsburgh can't give them the same things.......Yap hasn't played any better than Kassian, and at some point he won't be a number one OA, he will be a dud......there is risk,,,,same as Kass....I see them as equals right now. I understand what you mean, but an argument could be made in favour of Van. Draisailt hasn't even proven himself yet, and Edmonton will be getting a very generational Center next year.......I am really looking at Edmonton's want/need to add depth, as well veteran leadership in Lack and Tanev.......Tanev is very underrated.......but if you think exchanging Hamhuis is a better deal for Edmonto...go for it...... In saying that.....Yap could take off in Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin there feeding him, Higgins gives them a defensive responsible winger with offensive upside....Weber although not anywhere near Despres talent level......would be a great addition to their Powerplay's second line...... So. Edm trades A 1st overall pick 3rd overall pick 2015 2nd which is essentially 31 or 32 this year so a late 1st. For Kassian Tanev Lack... Edmonton counters and offers Musil Petry Nikitin for H Sedin D Sedin 2015 1st round pick. Or Horvat Virtanen 2015 1st round pick. See....Edmonton doesn't just get destroyed in that trade, they get bent over prison sexed and then the team folds and moves to vegas because they don't belong in the league with such terrible management. As well edm could simply trade Yakupov and a 3rd for Despres and a 2nd....

J.I.A.H.N
Yakupov has 12 pts. in 50 games and is a rather large -25 considering the type of player he is, is he doing that much better than Kassian, if you talk to Edmonton fans, they will say he is worth a lot, but they don't want him and Lowe is an idiot to picking him. Yakupov is suppose to be a #1 type player, but hasn't shown that yet.......much the same way Kassian is a power forward, but hasn't shown it.....just remember saying you are something doesn't mean you are it. you guys get stuck on shiney pennies (aka rankings) No one can say he will be better than he is today......potential yes.....but what has he does as of today? This is the same argument I would say about Kassian to a lesser extent. Draisaitl in an undeveloped rookie of unproven pro abilities, potential yes, but still unproven. Tanev is however a proven top defensive defenseman, and it could be argued he is our #1 defenseman.......would he be the best on Edmonton, yes. Edmonton's problem is they have too much potential great hockey players and not enough real hockey players.....they could be waiting along tome to see either one of those two players develop, and the mean time, their real players grow tired of the wait. Someone posted to me that players need to grow up in a winning atmosphere...well how long will they be waiting in Edmonton? Yes there is risk in trading away those 2 players, but Tanev is still a pretty good hockey player.....not to mention Eddy Lack, who IMO has shown more than just a #2 goalie......is he worth a 31st over all? Well that depends if you want to wait for that player to develop or not. If you don't want to wait, then Eddy is not a bad choice. Edmonton needs maturity, and talent....could other teams offer more....probably, but do they want to give up a top defenseman and wait for 3 years for Draisaitl to develop? Not if they are a contender or in a market that needs to win now. That is why there are less options than perceived. Do you see a lot of teams wanting to give up their top goalie for a 2nd rounder.....no......Boston has M. Subban, but do you think they would give him up for a 32nd?....I don't think so. It isn't as easy as you would think. All of this would be easily answered if Edmonton would just pull the trigger and get these top end dmen, these top end goalies, or if Yukupov would just develop. Just for the record...IMO....our team has some pretty good talent hidden throughout the team.....not counting the 1st line. Our problem is our 1st line, is slow and old, and preys on weaker team, and even that is not a certainty. Was it a stretch, yes.........but those players as a group would help Edmonton today, if that is what they wanted......but then again, why would they give up a chance at McDavid. And the guy the year after that, and so on, and so on........ Just remember, it only took 2 developed dmen and a decent goalie to move the Islanders from a middle of the pack team to a contender.
