Warhippy
Nice and simple. Van trades: Lack, Pettit and a 2015 5th round pick Carolina Trades: Andrej Nestrasil and a 2015 2nd round pick Carolina has some goalie issues and doesn't have the most intriguing C depth after Rask/Brown. Nestrasil was a Wings pick up, 6 foot 3.5 inches and 209 pound C/RW Had my eye on him for a while and he's one of the fastest accelerating big men I've ever seen. Not top end fast but first 3 strides fast. It's quick simple. Not flashy. Sorry about that, I know most want to hear how Pettit and Labatte are going to get us MacDavid. So...ya sorry
Tom Sestito
Pettit and a fifth are worthless Lack's value is a second.. and Carolinas is going to be very high So Carolina says no.

Warhippy
I think his analyzation was fair His opinion is all he ever gives. Like the guy and all but he adds nothing to the conversation just drops in insults and leaves. Like the a-hole cousin at a family reunion. Pettit MAY have no value but it doesn't mean we can't supplement it with something else like a pure winger in Grenier or D man in McNally

So...ya sorryWe spoke of this yesterday. I think its a solid trade Nestrasil was a waiver pickup for them so they would probably part with him.....I think it depends on how highly they value their second vs how highly they value Lack. It might take a sweeter prospect on our side to get it done. I think if they get a return on a guy they got for free they might be willing to give a high second for Lack who is probably worth a mid to low second. Seven pounds soft
Sounds like the type of move Benning is looking for. And I like the idea of Carolina's second , I don't know much about nestratl.

Nestrasil was a waiver pick up so by and large is a big body in the line up. But that big body has some upside and if we're hot for getting rid of kassian I'd like the replacement. Nestrasil again was said free player, the 2nd is...well just that. Canes are playing decent hockey recently now that everyone is healthy still sub par to be honest but better than they were and that 2nd could easily be 40th as 35th to end the year. It really turns into Lack, 5th + for the 2nd and nestrasil. We've pieces to switch in and out. I certainly wouldn't give anything of obvious value or need to our org but the canes have different needs than we do at the moment so...
coastal.view
i think carolina has no interest in this they do not need to improve now .. there is no point that 2nd will be just outside the 1st round . and will be like a 1st round pick given the depth in this draft they could use that 2nd to draft a goalie with a higher upside goalies used to never be drafted in the 1st round.. that trend changed for a few years more recently but appears to be rarely done now they might get the best goalie available in the draft with their 2nd or perhaps the second best goalie i think there 2nd pick has quite a bit more value than the value they would get back trading it for lack i like lack but there is a bit of a goalie glut right now i would do this deal in a heart beat from vancouver's perspective but am completely unconvinced this interests carolina at all at this time might have a clear picture around draft day though

Are you saying they would be better off to wait 4 or more years for a goalie than to trade for one? I agree their second is worth more than Lack how much more really depends. And yes, Pettit does have 0 value. If Pettit ever earns a contract from this organization, I'll post a selfie of me chewing on dirty socks. It was a terrible pick. If we wanted Nestrasil, we could have plucked him from waivers. Obviously Carolina sees value in him, and he's doing okayish. I'm also wondering what an impure winger is - based on Grenier being a pure one. Grenier is pretty awful, I'd happily just get rid of his contract, or trade him for a defensive equivalent (Magnus Nygren). I feel you're hurt by my response, which I believe is fair and so did HK666.

Maybe make the pick 2016 and you might draw their interest but that is if they see Lack as their future starter.
Herberts Vasiljevs
I'm with Warhippy on this one Tom. It's a solid proposal. Arguably, it may be asking for too much from CAR, but it's not a downright catastrophe man...

Arguably, it may be asking for too much from CAR, but it's not a downright catastrophe man... I did not make it out to be. I posted simple reasoning in two sentences, and then I said Carolina said no. I don't think Lack fetches us that high a second, and I don't see any value in the other two assets we're giving up for Carolina to give up Nestrasil. I don't think it's that awful either, but a 5th and pettit just don't have value.

You say bold things like this and act like your opinion is fact, and that you know more than the professionals who made the pick. Especially because It's only been 7 months. I don't proclaim my opinions as anything more than opinions. I don't have a big deal with people not liking me. I don't understand that logic of me knowing more than professionals. I specifically posted on this yesterday lol. I don't have any credibility, no. But again, it's an opinion like everyone elses' on this board. I'm a huge fan of this trade, but clendening's ability is limited due to his size. (6ft and under defenseman don't end up being top pairing guys unless they're oozing talent, agreed?) But he's a steady presence with a brain.. something we don't have on the bottom pairing IMO. I don't see where I said he wouldn't get better, because I believe he will. I'm also not so negative when I post, but negative posts are always highlighted because they don't go with the norm. For what it's worth, none of the things I've posted that were perceived as negative or trolling have turned out to be wrong. Hell, the only opinion I stated of recently that has been wrong from my perspective has been my belief in Kassian taking the next step in his development - which is shockingly - a POSITIVE opinion. Let's see with notable prospects. I'll bold what can be perceived as negative opinions. I've always liked Corrado, wanted him on lineup over Bieksa. Pedan has grown on me, and I believe there's something there with the tools he has - but he's a project. He is slowly showing improvement, and he's 2x the defenseman he was when we acquired him which is a very good sign. I don't buy the Tryamkin hype, but Benning believes he'll be an NHL defenseman and he's running an NHL franchise. So, by all accounts you should buy what he's selling. A lot more stuff in that post, but copied what is applying to your post. I'm not really the type of person to post stuff like "Jordan Subban will be our #1 defenseman for twenty years" for the purpose of being liked. I post my opinion for the purpose of this being a discussion board. I hate the narrative of posts always having to be positive, so I do post things I believe.. and that's referred to as an opinion. I support your right to hold an opinion that maybe contrary to what the masses believe to be true. Sadly I see this in all fan bases, in my own as well. Post something that goes against fan base's rosy picture and you are labeled a hater and a troll. Its like you have to agree with every move. Any criticism made of the team and the front office is an affront that is not to be tolerated. I remember my early days on CDC. I said the Canucks prospect pool wasn't very good (it sucked actually but I did my best to be polite) and got ripped into by De Niro who said I had little to no knowledge of Canucks prospect. I said I had watched quite a few Wolves games. I think we argued over Schroeder and K-Conn lol and I was arguing that I saw little NHL potential in most Canucks prospects. Since then I have realized that people do not like hearing a negative about their players. So I try not to talk down any Canuck players so as to not attract the wrath of some posters who do not like reading opinions contrary to what they believe to be true. If people were more tolerant towards other people's opinions, we could all be a bit more honest. I am much more brutally honest on my team's forums though. Screw the haters, call it as you see it I say. It doesn't make you any less of a fan if you choose to point out the deficiencies and negatives in your team. You aren't a troll because you might disagree with a move your team makes (*ahem* Rundblad for a 2nd round pick, Morin for Erixon). It doesn't mean you claim to have more knowledge than your own GM. You have every right to criticize how your team plays and how your coach deploys his players. All of those are your rights as a passionate fan of the team. I just don't like that he jumps in adds his opinion brushes everything aside and then walks away. He's had some good ideas, just like the debate instead of the argument
