(Proposal) To Arizona

Recommended Posts

Van: Vermette

Ari: 3rd round pick or a 4th round pick.

Works good for both teams. Vermette is one of the best faceoff men in the Nhl. Also his contract ends this season. We got Richardson out right now. Its kinda of a bad deal to. Vermette has down sides and I don't think much people like him. Also Ronald Kennis is doing good. This is just a possibility please no hate.

"The Coyotes are probably going to need youth in return for any trades they make. That could mean high draft picks or a slightly more established prospect. In fact, according to LeBrun on TSN's Insider Trading segment Thursday night, the Coyotes will require a prospect and roster player in return for Vermette. It could be a high ask, but the Yotes have to go for it as there is sure to be a market for a player with Vermette's tools."

Two days ago Mckenzie said that Vermette will probably fetch a first.

He also said canucks won't go after a dman right before we got Clendening! I'd love to have vermette.... Our face off ability has been horrific this year.

So you're saying insiders aren't always 100%? I'm shocked! Thank you for enlightening me.

Maloney himself said everyone's on the market outside of Doan. I don't see what the point of your first sentence is.

And for my own opinion, I'm completely against acquiring Vermette. He's a rental, and he's 32. Even if we re-sign him, he'll be 33 at training camp and it's going to take upwards of 5 million a season. Oh, and we'll have to give up a first round pick.

Go young, otherwise don't acquire unless it's a deal in which we're giving up someone of similar age.

Vermette will be the best player available at the deadline. He would be a perfect fit on a number of contenders. There will be a bidding war for him. He is excellent defensively is exceptional at faceoffs and is worth significantly more than a 3rd. I won't find it farfetched if a team trades a 1st for him, he is a good 2nd line center who adds depth to any team.

By the way Vermette went 23-6 on faceoffs tonight in a win against Montreal. He is valuable player, not some bargain bin tossup. As a Hawks fan I would trade a 1st quite easily for him.

For us if we really wanted Vermette I'd do a 2nd and a decent prospect. If Arizona won't take that then forget it.

I wouldn't make that trade.

Again, Vermette is a rental - why would we trade for another one when we traded a third for dorsett? Yes, he's great. But he's going to get 5m+ on free agency. Are you willing to pay that for a guy who would be 33 come training camp?

Where would you play him once Versteeg comes back? Who moves to the third line...Versteeg, Sharp, Richards, Saad, Vermette? 2/3 out of the 5 are on the 3rd line. Thats stacked!!!! And way beyond the cap limit.

As to the trade proposal...Arizona is going to be offered a lot better than this at the deadline, no way this gets Vermette.

Its hard to say what the lines will be like with Vermette, even without him Q tends to put the lines through a blender in the playoffs.

Shaw hasn't had a good year. Vermette can play third line center or replace Richards on the 2nd line. I expect a number of teams to make offers for Vermette. Anaheim is another one, they will be equally stacked if they can pick up Vermette. The point is Vermette is extremely versatile and can fit a number of teams needs. A team can even try to acquire him with the intention of resigning him later. The Kings are another team that could choose to acquire him. Cap space is prorated at the deadline, plus the Coyotes can retain a bit to make the numbers fit. Imo Vermette is the best deadline rental in a long while. Bowman doesn't like rentals and so don't quite a few GMs like Lombardi and Murray but I think at least one of these teams will put in a strong offer.
